    Hello,

I have a 2011 Prius and after one week I've tried to start the engine. Instead of starting I've got a CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM message.
I've check hybrid system and I have only one error "3004-800" -> HIGH VOLTAGE POWER RESOURCE
According to google, this is "Excessive overcurrent occurs during precharge (time from when SMRP turns on until when SMRG turns on).".

I've looked at freeze frame and the Power Resource IB is 6.84 Amps while Power Resource VB is 216V.
+B is around 12.38V during starting attempt so the 12V battery is ok .

Any idea what are the limits for Power Resorce IB current during precharge in order for hybrid ECU to allow SMRG engagement ?

    Thanks!

You need to get techstream and run a test. No sense in guessing...

All details above have been obtained via techstream. What tests are you talking about ?

I have around 125k km ( around 75k miles ). I do have access to service manual . However, I cannot find the resistance value that I should measure on the inverter side with hybrid battery cable removed. I'm currently measuring 0.0 ohm there even without A/C cable inserted into inverter. This is probably a good indication that inverter has an internal short which can throw out this DTC 3004-800.

probably 3-4 years old..... but I've already tried to hook a jump starter and +B value reported by hybrid system during freeze frame was 12.38V ( lowest value ) which should be ok I think....

You must take into account that 12.38 V was measured by the hybrid voltage ecu during startup procedure when there is no help from DC-DC converter as the car is not started.

Alinica2001, you clearly know your way around the car, having techstream data, and that was a good problem report.

I am finding that sometimes the right thing to do is to take the vehicle to Da Man at Toyota, hand over the key and say, "Diagnose and advise." Be prepared to pay the coin for diagnosis; how the repair is done, a separate problem.

This one clearly sounds like it is in the weeds of advanced Prius Later Model Diagnostics.

Please do keep this forum informed what you do find out on your 2011 ride.

Reminds me of an old saying from the American West:
"You can always tell the pioneers; they're the ones with the arrows in their backs."

    Hello,

As an update, I confirm that the replacement for my inverter works perfectly fine .
To summarize, for a 2011 Prius/Auris with a inverter code ( code G9200-47140 ), inverter can be replaced with the next generation inverter which is G9200-47190. I've got the replacement from a 2017 Auris. This is a perfect fit.
So in my case code P3004-800 was generated by an inverter failure ( 0 ohm measured at the inverter side with no traction battery cable connected ). Car is now running perfectly fine with the replacement inverter.

    alinica2001,
Has this upgraded converter serving you well in the past year? you have not experienced failures because of placing a next gen converter G9200-47190 in 2011 prius?

Last week I replaced the inverter (with help of mechanic) in a 2011 Prius Gen 3 (original part nr G920047140) with an inverter of Auris 2013 part nr G920047190. After clearing the error codes it works perfectly. If anyone get's in a similar situation I encourage doing the same (unless warranty applies).

    Hi
Got the same problem same DTCs. Can you please tell me what’s the traction battery is? Is the car 12 volt battery? And which wire is it? Plz share it. Thanks
