Official RAV4 Prime Review Thread

I usually like AoA but this was a pretty lame video. Didn't really give any new insight. A lot of it was even on visual differences.

 

By which time zone? I.e. 27 or just 24 hours?

Or even something earlier, e.g. Atlantic, Newfie, or a Euro time?

 

One of the onscreen printed updates gave an HV combined MPG of 38, which I don't recall seeing before.

 

The battery production capacity has been exceeded by orders already and you can't order a Rav4 plug-in as of a day or so ago. And when they are available, they will go to ZEV states for a while to optimize their emissions tax impact

 

Were orders even being taken in the US?

Always painful to watch these so-called reviewers talk about the HV/EV systems that they know nothing about. They don't seem to have a clue about what they do or how they work, how to use them, etc, etc.

 

Are you referring to my comment? I deleted it because I realized I was partly confused, so it didn't make sense.

Well, I can, but I live in a CARB state.

 

As do I, so that doesn't appear to be a factor.

 

But you aren't West Coast or Northeast.
Nearly all the hybrids and plug ins go to CARB states with bigger markets first.

The Rav4p starts coming to dealers in the summer, which is just 2 days shy of being a 2 weeks old now. That was the plan back in May, before ran into shortages for Japan, so it might have been pushed back.

Even without any issues, it was unlikely that a 2021 car would be available nationwide in 2020.

If people need something to stress about, they should go with the pandemic. That is of greater concern than having to delay buying a brand new car.

 

Washington State became a ZEV state just three weeks ago, so now there is a bit of faint hope at my end.
