    Don't panic!!!
That price is for only for most of the California 'rip-off' dealers.

Here in Florida the price is $1950 for the hybrid battery.

$3k in Colorado right now. It certainly seems like there is a regional price change going on. Florida is part of the South Eastern Toyota Mafia, perhaps they are either slow to change or won't? Who knows.

At $3k, not many people will be keeping their Gen.2 Prius much longer:cry::cry::cry:

I called 3 different Toyota dealers in [ NJ , PA, and GA. ] with a price of $3000 in that web page.
When you call their parts dept. phone number in person...The price is $1950 not $3000 like on that webpage.

I wouldn't be surprised if the recently observed price spread is the difference between a dealer that has stock on the shelf (paid for at the old price) vs. a dealer that needs to order from the regional warehouse (and would thus pay current price)

Call your Toyota dealer parts dept. and ask for the price of the hybrid battery without core charge.
    Then post what they say.

Out of curiosity — how much is the battery for a Plug-in Prius (2012-2015)?

All of the part #'s that I've tried are discontinued, would you happen to have a current part # that you can post?

Could a plug-in battery be cobbled from reg 3rd gen battery packs? Or @2k1Toaster's?

    Different battery technology;).

Your battery and the 2k1 kit is NiMH and the plug in is LiON:).

So a bit more involved (y).

Looks like things have returned to normal. All my local dealers showing around $1,700.
