I put a set of RT43s on our other little car a few months ago and I remain very impressed by the comfort qualities they present. Really quiet. Major improvement over the (random chinese trash) tires that were on that car previously. Unusual to get so many noise & comfort benefits without a big sacrifice in MPG or tread life.

Looking forward to hanging another set on our c once we've seen our money's worth of the factory tires.

While buying oil at Walmart, I walked by the tire display and saw the General Altimax RT's. Walmart offers both the T and H rated tire. I was immediately amazed by how deep the tread looked. They were right next to the Michelin Defender, so I could compare the two. The Altimax is a good looking tire! The tread seems so much deeper than my noisy Michelin Premiers.

I will seriously consider the Altimax tires when these deafening Premiers finally kick the bucket.

Thought I would report in. We installed a set of the General Altimax RT 43's a couple years back and now have crossed the 40k mile. Just had them rotated and have good tread left. I think we can easily get another 20k which will have us close to the 65k rating and they may have more than 20k left. They've handled well and seem to be an outstanding value.

I absolutely love the Altimax RT's....for winter driving. 1000 times better than the OEM tires in snow! They are a great tire overall...but any tire with such a deep tread will take an MPG hit. It should improve as they wear. (y)

And BTW - we have them on our Elantra GT...not the Prius.

I just installed the new model Altimax 45's - I hope they perform as well as the 43's people in this thread have loved :)

Not too much in terms of details - but the H rated (which I needed for the Prime) have a 75,000 mile tread wear warranty (same as the T rated) on the new Altimax 45's. On the Altimax 43's, the H rated had a 65,000 warranty. So far they are very nice - was driving in the rain this weekend and felt secure. Still way too early to see MPG results vs my snow tires and the OEM tires they replaced.

    The rt45 replaces the rt43.

The big takeaway is the new tire ....the 45....supposedly squeezes out a few more miles of treadwear. They claim other improvements, but meh.

The 43 is a GREAT tire. Hope the 45 continues and is still reasonably priced.
