The original 12V battery in my 2014 Toyota Prius Gen3 is failing and I need to replace it. Autozone has these two options: Duralast Platinum vs Optima Yellow. Which one should I get? Anyone have any experience with these? Screen Shot 2020-06-25 At 1.46.13 PM by ussyicheng posted Jun 25, 2020 at 1:50 PM
I've got the Yellow Top Optima, will be 5 years old this September. It's going great guns, still shows well over spec'd CCA when load tested. It has led a sheltered life though: our usage keeps dropping, but I keep it on a smart charger pretty much constantly. Next time around I might try Canadian Tire's black/rectangular case style AGM offering. I don't think there's a world of difference, as long you keep on top of things, basically don't let it get run down.
ussyicheng, if you decide to get OEM, see if your original battery is still within the prorated range of the warranty. Could save you a little bit
