    Hey...

I just cleared up my 2005 Prius headlights with some of these wipes... from "headlight restore"

they worked a treat and cleaned up that yellow look of oxidized front lights

So now im on the hunt to make the front end of the Prius look even lovelier and ive seen loads of LED headlight and amber LED turning lights... especially on eBay

Problem is... i don't know what size of fitting i need and i need them not to hyperflash if i do install them

Has anyone done this conversion - i have a 2nd gen 2005 - help appreciated...

I'd not spend money on turn signal LEDs. The fix is usually a resistor which defeats the purpose of LED saving energy in the first place.

Its for the amber lights to run brighter making it safer and also a little bit of an upgrade to the Prius - anyone done this yet?

I can say that I bought LED bulbs for my fog lamps, and they lasted about a month before the first one stopped working.

Without knowing what I'm getting, I'd be more likely to just tint the lense.

I drive for a living, and I swear by my yellow-tinted (Blue Blocker) driving glasses. White lights do glare and wear on your eyes more than the old yellowish lights did. I know that from living it.

Good article. Thanks for posting it. :)

Interestingly, Mr. Stern seems to have updated the article just this last month to include clear coating the yellow paint, and added the bit about the yellow tape being an option...

You know, I've thought about it, and I'm ordering the paint for my fog lights on the car and the semi. I'm at some point in the near future going to change out the fog lights for something a bit more... useful. I seriously cannot see a difference with them on or off at night. My wife's newer Avalon, I turn on the fog lamps and can tell a huge difference. My Semi, I turn on the fog lamps and can tell a difference. Prius, no difference. I'd like some bright lamps with a good pattern that I can aim down onto the ground for bad weather driving.

Unless you are in fog, fog lamps should make no difference. They are only supposed to illuminate the 10 m in front of you in fog.

As for people that use them all the time when there is no fog!

I agree. I like them for fog, rain, and snow to put the light down low to the ground, aimed more toward the ground so less light is bouncing back up at me.
I don't drive with them on at all unless conditions call for them, which rarely happens.

Wow, this thread went off the rails.

OP, I currently have LED bulbs replacing both turn signals and both headlights on my 2008 Prius. I also have LED reverse bulbs, LED license plate bulbs, LED interior bulbs, etc... my goal is every bulb LED, which will be achieved as soon as I get an LED for the rear dome.

For the headlight, you will want LED bulbs that are size H4. Make sure they have both low and high beam components, and reflectors on the low beam portion to properly aim the beam. I bought these over a year ago and they are still incredible... plug and play swap...

For the turn signals, you will want a set of four amber LED bulbs sized 7443, and a replacement flasher module to go with them. I bought a crappy flasher module initially, then upgraded to Diode Dynamics SmartTap when the crappy one failed. The bulbs I have...

For reference, a crappy flasher module...

    And the SmartTap...

Please don't use resistors. They are a barbaric solution, especially when the flasher module can be changed with so little effort.
