So, dash was cracked over driver side center vent, apparently MFD replaced. So, said MFD dies, I look up getting it out, do so (platistic just shattered on broken panel-I'll just get one from junkyard!)
But, seems it is not correct one. #86110-47210.
The car has HI package #3 and TV Touring Package.
Has 6-CD changer, which works, although cannot select CD, of course. Nothing under drivers seat, so, no Nav? Passenger seat has what looks like the amp for the JBL sound system.
    Is that correct?
I don't want to spend $300 fixing the wrong model MFD....
    Thanks in Advance!

If there's no CD box under the driver seat then the car doesn't have navigation. If it has the JBL box under the driver seat, JBL speakers, and a speaker mounted in the horizontal portion of the dash above the MFD, then it has the JBL stereo system.

Does it have the rear view camera? When you removed it, did all the connectors fit properly in the back? were there any loose ones present that weren't connected?

Did all the MFD functions work correctly before it died?

Probably just a typo, but that should be, "If it has the JBL box under the passenger seat"

I think all Prius models have backup cam.
Yes, all functions worked, at least, the ones I had time to check before it went out. Backup cam came on in reverse, bluetooth phone connected (wife said was static-filled, but understandable) audio fader, etc.
It has only the 4 hard buttons, some had more, which is another reason I'm asking.
I guess they all have same steering wheel, which is why there is a Map button.
Just wondered if correct MFD #. I guess if everything works, I will go ahead and get it fixed.

Not all Gen 2s had backup cams. Every model MFD is slightly different irt the connections on the back, based on options. Some can be adapted by moving wires and pins around, but for the most part, replacements need to be the exact model # that was removed. Many people have gone down the road of purchasing an ebay MFD that was a different number, only to find out it didn't work in their car.

So I can assume the correct model is in it, as functions seemed to all work.
But no way to tell from the VIN#?

Went to Toyota and got spec sheet...shows "Push Button Start Remote Keyless Entry", of course I didn't get the key for that.. Key I have HAS silver logo, but must be inserted into the dash, and have to use metal key to unlock doors....lock/unlock/panic don't work.
I guess I'll have to pay the dealer$$$ if I want a proximity key...

Check the SKS button is activated on the dash below the steering wheel. It must be in the out position for SKS to function. I've done battery repairs for customers who have owned their car for years, yet never realized their SKS was non-functional due to the button being pressed in. And of course, the battery in the fob or the fob itself may have issues.

Nah, first thing I did was put new battery in the fob. The rubber cover over the buttons was peeled back, so I can guess it was wet at some point. any idea where the proximity sensor is? I read about someone who had it get unplugged somehow.
    Thanks!

If you press any button on the fob, does the small red LED in the upper right corner flash?
Were you able to check the SKS button on the dash to verify it's in the 'out' position?
iirc, there are proximity sensors on all sides of the car and the center console.

'Original' fob, no. replacement, yes. new batteries in both.
Out position has red light on dash blinking, correct....is there one fuse for the sensors, maybe? No covers on either under-hood fuseboxes, driver dash has one....printed '09 layouts (different from '08!). I'll have to check on that....
