Ok, I'm supposed to know these things but I was taken aback when I noticed my PIP Advanced had an LED "eyebrow" above the LED headlight. When did they change this from the simple LED bulb that the older ones had?

Or am I just on crack and they have always been like this?

Never mind. Paradox answered this question in an earlier thread. Still pretty sweet. :)

Funny, I was just gonna answer it here for ya' Justin lol. I do like the change and the removal of the 3rd led 'flood light' really didn't affect light output or pattern at all.

I really like the headlight assemblies on the Prius 5 and the Plug-In advance. Very few cars currently have LED headlights. Nice, white & bright. One other plus (I like) on the plug-in models are the blue tinted headlight assemblies. Looks great on my Winter Gray, white, blue would look OK. Not sure on red, and especially Sea Pearl green? Headlight washer the same as on my 2011 Lexus IS. They look OK, but are worthless.

I heard they leave a nice stripe of windshield washer juice across the hood :) That was the #1 reason for me not to order a Five.

I imagine that is nice for traveling. I only pleasure drive my car on sunny days on two lane country roads ;) I don't use my cruise even :(

i actually think a major reason why they work in tandem with the windshield wipers is because the LED lights run much cooler and therefore won't melt ice/snow buildup in wintery climates.

Fill 'er up with some alcohol washer juice ;) That's what we do in Minnesota to make windshield squirters work when the air temp is below zero.

I have a 2014 Prius five with these led headlights and I love them. I was wondering if anyone has figured out how to change the bulb(s) for the v shaped eyebrow? I tried looking the other day and can’t find any sockets. I feel like I’ve seen some pics of different colored eyebrows.

The 2010-2011 model years had a halogen forward-facing parking light that was easily replaceable. For 2012-2015, on Five (or PiPA) trim levels, that forward-facing parking light was upgraded to that V or checkmark shaped LED brow.

Since it’s LED, it’s not user replaceable.

Those Prius fives with the LED brows must be rare or the drivers are are too lazy to turn them on. I have never seen one on the road. And there are tons of Gen 3's in SoCal!

Yeah they were only available on the Fives (or PiP Advanced). All other Gen 3s have halogen headlamps. They're rare in Canada too, even though they aren't the top trim level (It's offered on the "Touring" here, which is 3rd out of 4 trim levels. Yes, our top Technology package goes back to halogen headlamps)

With the headlights on they’re not that noticeable. If you turn the parking lights on the brows, drl, and side markers turn on and look pretty good. The regular drl in auto mode doesn’t include the brows which I think would be nicer.
Maybe I can find the wiring for the brows since they come on separate from the headlights with the parking lights switched on, and splice that into the drl circuit.

I have an issue of half the brow on one side not lighting up.

Called Toyota and they suggest I got to an external accessories shop.
Another Prius owner in Malaysia who visited Toyota was proposed buying a new headlamp to solve this problem.

Anyone had same brow not lighting up problem figured out how to solve it?
    Appreciate help. Thanks 1366886053.jpeg 1337941105.jpeg
