I cannot seem to get a straight answer out of most local Toyota dealers for Prius price. I've
tried the web quote services, going to the dealers, calling, and each time I visit a dealer,
I get a new, higher price quoted to me. The latest excuse was "oh, I was looking at an old price list".

Can anyone suggest a reputable dealer within 200 miles of Denver?

Sorry don't know Colorado that well, however, I went through the same here in Tucson and especially Phoenix. The word is LIES. I actually gave up and let my wife doing the looking and she found Mary Ren in Sierra Vista, AZ. We got a rock bottom price as promised. The car is great. The only thing was the perpetual waiting. I think it was an extra 6 to 8 weeks. I called only to hear that the car was on the boat, which Toyota headquaters said no way. Apparently Big T ships out x number of pri's and the dealers jockey and trade for the one's they're looking for. who knows, but it might be worth an extra day or two in travel, or have someone drive it up on such a big expense. good luck

In December 2004 I bought my Prius through Costco Buying Service from Tim Graim at Stevenson Toyota West. I think he's fleet manager. At the time he was able to offer something like $200 off sticker, and he didn't play any games.

I have purchased a number of cars through "CU Advantage" a credit union based buying service in Denver. They don't play games on price. They will tell you exactly what every option costs, tell you the price, and not charge any of the bogus dealer handling. I don't know if you need to be a member of a credit union to use them, but give them a call and ask.

I had my Prius on order through them, but it was not going to make the 9/30/06 tax cutoff, so I rapidly found another in Utah to make the tax credits. Heck, my order may still be on their books and coming in soon. You could just snag it

Give Ray Tracy a call at: 877-311-2886 I have bought 2 cars from him in the past and he is wonderful to work with. On our Honda Pilot, I found one of the last 2004's on a lot in Denver, called him, and he got it for me the next day for less than the dealership would sell it to me for. Good guy. Very straight up, and not games.

    Good Luck

Here is a second for Denver area Stevinson Toyota West and the Costco referral.

I waited six months in 04 for my 04. Received the $300 rebate from Toyota since base price went up that much while I waited. The Costco discount was $310. Only Stevinson extra was $85 for floor/rear carpet mats.

I also had my 5K service done at Stevinson but have since switched to an independent service shop in Boulder and I will continue with all scheduled maintenance at this independent shop.

Other Prius owners I talked with were pleased with the Greeley and the Ft. Collins Toyota dealers.

I had a contact from Tim Graim at Stevinson through Costco when I bought my last Toyoyta. After the first contact he stopped returning my phone calls. I had asked nothing controversial, just pricing, and he wouldn't return my phone calls. I found that unprofessional enough that I just stopped goingt to Stevinson for anything. I appreciate your input though!

Thanks for everyone's input, this has given me some leads to follow!

Stevinson is alright, I've been there a few times with my old truck, but I haven't bought a vehicle there. I think there are two Stevinsons, I went to the one in Aurora.

Look at my thread in the order tracking forum.

I've also had good experience buying through Automotive Avenues. HM Brown is another broker that is supposed to be good, no harm in at least calling both of those to have them looking for a car for you as well.

I ended up getting mine from Ehrlich Toyota in Greeley after having to wait too long at Burt. They were very pleasant to deal with and worth the drive.

I ended up getting mine from Burt Toyota. I went through one of the web quote services and Burt didn't hassle me about anything. I got a quote from Jay Tatteringer (I swear he's really Chris Elliott) at burt. $500 below invoice for a 2005 package 6. I never even went into the dealership until my car arrived and even then it only took about 45 minutes. It was great.
