On Oct. 6th I brought my 2006 (had to go to Pheonix to get by Oct 1) into the local Toyota dealer to fix a noise in my door. On the lot was 8 2007 prius. I should have taken a picture. Very cool see them all lined up. They had:
    2blue
    2gray
    2silver
    1white
    1black

Only one had the new tires( lookes very nice, filles up the wheel well) and no leather seats.

I was wondering if this was the case in other parts of the country? Or where they trying to get these before Oct 1 to sell them quickly?

    Tucson, Az

Not sure. I know there are Priuses now on lots where I live now that the demand shifted towards the Camry Hybrid. There's a 6 month waiting list the last time I checked in September.

Maybe in some areas of the country...I was approached by an elderly couple outside the grocery store the other night who were very interested in my Prius. They said they wanted to order one, but couldn't find a dealer within a 20-mile radius who had any available on the lot whatsoever to even look at and didn't want to order a car without first test-driving it. I totally would have offered to let them test drive mine, but after a looong day(and week) at work this 7.5mos preggo was in dire need of getting home to use the restroom and getting some rest.

I drive by a couple different Toyota dealers on a weekly basis, and I've only seen 1 Prius sitting on the lot of either of them within the last few weeks.

I took Trixie to Carson Toyota last week for her 5000 mile service. They had two other Seaside Pearls on the lot as well as a white one.

My local dealer has both Camry and Prius hybrids available. They've also got an obscene number of Highlander Hybrids.

Maybe it depends on the area of the country.

Driving on Hwy. 101 (N. CA) near San Francisco Airport, mine was one of four Prii, side by side by side by side. It was rather the spectacle, though I believe I was the only one who happened to notice.

Let's hope that the increased availability of Prius on the lot is due to Toyota catching up to the demand, and not to a decrease in demand since the tax credit reduced.

I'll be interested to see what the October sales numbers are going to be now that the credit and gas prices are both down. We'll see how interested people still are in reducing gas consumption and pollution.

Did you ask if the cars were spoken for? I was recently at my dealer. They had four Prii on the lot. All four were awaiting pick-up by their new owners.

Its possible that some of those vehicles are spoken for....most likely they wont stay on the lot for long, especially if they were for the owners that ordered them previously.

OTOH, if more Priuses are starting to show up on lots unclaimed, it would be advantage for those who have had a hard time getting one beforehand.
