My daughter was driving my Toyota Prius 2012 but she ended up making too sharp a turn and bent the side of the door and ruined the paint job. Does anyone have an estimate of how much it might cost to have this fixed? I don’t know anything about cars and whether I would need to get something replaced.

Yes the door works fine. It’s just the bottom the door that’s damaged

I just realized I never uploaded a picture. Here it is. Thanks for your help

bisco, I think you are being nice. I'd say at least $1,787 or maybe even $1,832.

    I don't see a picture.
    Options:
    1) Replace with used door and transfer interior parts, hinges, locks etc.
    2) "Pound out" and bondo.
    3) Replace door skin.
    4) Unknown, damage to the A or B pillar or rocker panel and floor.
    5) Repair yourself including paint work.

Parts costs will be what they are.
    Labor cost vary by region.
Paint I'd estimate as 3.5 hours plus match and blend 1.0
Body work, unknown because of repair variables, but say 5.0
    Labor = 9.5 hours at labor rate = x
    Paint, materials, EPA, tax =
    Parts, tax =

Unless you wish to DIY or partial DIY the repair, perhaps best is to inspect a few shops and then a few repair estimates.
I agree with our co-members estimates as ball park cost.

    Good luck.

Good news, from the photo I would say minor damage.
Paint labor cost remain = 4.5
Body labor - I would remove inner trim panel and "pound out" and bondo = 2.5
(Even though the door shell is damage I think it is repairable.)
    Paint, materials, EPA = x
    Still $1000 I'd say.

Again good luck, it is true, crashing sucks :)

Reminds me of those post who said the car inadvertently slammed against the barrier lane divider which caused the damage.

Maybe take it to a body shop or two and get an estimate? That’s what I’d do.
