Hi everyone totally new hair ran into an issue with my 2005 battery cells. my car was sitting at a shop for five days without being started. For another issue completely irrelevant. So my question is is now the code is spitting that it's my battery. :(

I don't want to waste money or time having someone figure out which of the cells is bad and replace it. o_O

found this company wondering if you guys know anything about it heard anything good about it is it worth it is the warranty really lifetime unlimited miles anything you can do to help a newbie out preciate it.:D

Two things you need to know:

A weak 12 V battery can cause false codes to be set pointing to all kinds of problems that don't exist.
You NEED to get the 12 V battery and it's connections checked first.

Then.....any company that "rebuilds" batteries by "reconditioning or refurbishing" them, is really only replacing cells that totally failed and giving you the others that likely are about to fail too.
Unless you can live with repeated failures under their "warranty", this is not usually a good way to go.

    welcome!
green bean might be the best of all the big rebuilders, from what i've read here. but the best of the worst is...

there's a thread here on green bean, if you want to review it

    how many miles on her?

you can get a 'newpriusbatteries.com' for $1,600. plus local install, or contact toyota dealers for best price on a new oem.

All of the companies selling rebuilt or reconditioned batteries cannot afford to spend the time to properly repair & balance the pack. Regardless of warranty length, be prepared to have an unreliable vehicle that could die at any time.

Generally there are only 3 recommended options.
    1. New battery pack from Toyota - expensive
    2. Kit of new cells fron @2k1Toaster here with newpriusbatteries.for $1600 delivered but you must install.
    3. A used pack from a low mileage junked Prius. To be safe, forget 2016 & newer because most of them would not work for your car.

The link for option 2 is in my signature. They may have some back in stock.

Green Bean is a good place to get a battery from, with their unlimited mileage lifetime warranty that is transferable if you sell the car.

Installation is included and they come to you, also reinstalltion is included in the event it needs to be replaced.

Since your account was just created in May of this year, I am beginning to think that you really ARE Green Bean since "they" don't post anymore.
Otherwise what reason would an individual HAVE for painting such a rosy picture of them.......and failing to mention the drawbacks and bad reports ????

    Simply it is my opinion.

Im sorry but you are wrong, I do not work for them.

Why do you always mention the people you mention?

Lets not act like children and the next time you see me say green bean again just ignore it ane carry on.

In this case, because I think you are doing other members an injustice by not telling the WHOLE story.
Especially new members who likely haven't seen previous discussions.

Greenbean is a very well known and poorly recommended company on this forums. It is up to you to decide if you want new or old modules. Their onsite installation is convenient, and if history tells us anything you will need to use it multiple times in the next few years.

There is currently only 1 member on this entire forum that actively promotes the Greenbean battery, and he has already found this thread. Search the forums for more information if you still have questions.

Listen to @2k1Toaster who actually gets paid for his rechargeable battery expertise and started newpriusbatteries in order to share with us.

@TMR-JWAP is a very knowledgeable hobby battery rebuild person who has spent the time to successfully rebuild packs including some from those companies.

When it comes to the Green Bean battery, there are a couple of things that I would be curious about. First, when they assemble a battery, do they use similar date codes on the cells, or just grab 28 modules that have been thru their charging and testing process. Second, what percentage of their batteries sold get replaced within the first two years. And lastly, how many individual users have had their battery replaced more then twice.

That having been said, I like doing things myself. At the same money, and being able to resell(if desired) my old cells, the new cell battery is probably what I would do.

I have been.......but you are ignoring it.
Actually, several of us have been and you are ignoring ALL of it.

No reason to waste my time repeating that "reconditioned" batteries are almost NEVER a wise purchase, no matter where they come from.
THAT is the rest of the story.

NOT including that in your advice is misleading and irresponsible.
CONTINUING to be misleading and irresponsible is just wasting everybody's time.

When Green Bean was on here we asked them that to compare with newpriusbatteries. When they found out newpriusbatteries was 0% they ran away from the forum. That should tell you.
