FOB in slot “warning beep” is INOP when driver door is opened. Also, the doors WILL lock, leading to possible lock out if the FOB is left in the slot, and you hit the door lock button on the door itself. Problem is the same with both FOB’s. 2008, non SKS model. New 12v battery, and newly reconditioned Hybrid battery installed. Everything else works fine, including all FOB functions.

    Any ideas out there?

Often "inoperative", like Ron Ziegler's earlier statements about a certain third-rate burglary.

Without the FOB in slot, the car cannot be used as normal. INOP stands for “inoperative “

and you hit the door lock button on the door itself.

Are you talking about the black button on the outside door handle or the lock button on the master control on the inside door panel?

Do non-sks cars have the exterior button?

Perhaps the occupant detection system is not functioning correctly? I would imagine the door should not lock if the fob is in the slot but there is no one siting in the seat. Maybe the occupant detection thinks someone is sitting in the seat. Another excellent opportunity for Techstream to show it's worth.

To save you from a possible lockout (I think this is the only issue, the fear of that happening), just go to Home Depot and make a key for the car (it's just a regular key, copy the little key in your keyfob). Then put the Home Depot made key with your keyring for the house keys. No fear of lockout anymore. $2 fix

Is this car new to you? I believe the warning can be turned off in the customize section for warnings.
Yes, it does work this way, so never lock the car in this manner. Always use the fob to remote lock or use the metal key to lock the Driver's door.
No, there is no external lock button on non-SKS, so he is talking about the latter. The presence or absence of the external lock button is a quick and easy way to distinguish whether the car is an SKS or not.

Problem solved. It was simply the driver door limit switch on the back part of the doorframe, not functioning. I swapped it with the passenger door limit switch, and everything worked correctly. Of course now I need to round up a new switch for the passenger door. Oh well...
