That message comes from the "Transmission Control ECU", a fancy name for one computer in the car, whose whole entire job is to run the little motor that moves the transmission in and out of Park.

If you have an old beater laptop to run Toyota Techstream, or if you can find anyone near you who does, it can ask the Transmission Control ECU what exactly it is complaining about, and it will tell you.

Sometimes that issue can be a result of low voltage (that little motor is rather powerful, it only runs for a split second when you unpark and a split second when you park, but it likes its power for that split second). That doesn't necessarily mean low voltage at the 12 volt battery; sometimes the battery is ok but there is a poor connection on the way to the ECU or motor. But you'd be acting reasonably to get a measurement of your battery voltage just to see if there's a possible issue there.

If you have a chance to ask the ECU what it's complaining about, and it was a voltage issue, it will tell you; it keeps "freeze frames" and will even show you exactly what voltages were reaching it at the moment it logged the problem. Or it might show you the voltage was fine and the trouble is something else.

I has the same problem and the. I replaced the 12v and the problem stopped. After that I had to replace my Combination meter from the low voltage my 12v was giving for a while to the jolt of the new 12v
