Value of dealer installed traction battery

At 3 years old, they probably won't consider it. If you're a diyer, offer to buy the car back from the ins company. They'll probably want around 4-500, which they will take off your settlement payment. Sell off the major items like the cat, batteries, abs module and anything else that's a quick hitter, etc then scrap the car. I guess it depends on if you have spare room and the time to invest..

 

Wrecking yards sometimes only sell these packs for $50 sometimes because they aren't something you can resell from the perspective of uneducated bureaucrats and paper pushers. So if I were you I'd keep quiet about how new the battery and just say you want to keep the car's battery and accept an adjustment no higher than $300...

 

In the eyes of the insurance company, it's a 4-year-old part that came with a 3-year warranty, so it's worth zero.

*IF* you want to buy the car back and take it out yourself for resale, well, a new pack at the dealer is under two grand, so a used one might be worth a grand on the open market. Is it worth your time and trouble? Only you can decide.

 

how many miles on the battery? any way to swap it out with a dead one?
