Just wanting to find out if anybody experienced or heard of after market AC Compressors that claimed to be compatible but exhibited problems.

I've had 2 reports by mechanics and 1 from another Prius driver

This AC Compressor from Oreilly's failed 2X

    B1476

Had the other potential causes ruled out from the B1476 trouble shooting pdf

The previous persons said once they put in an OEM AC Compressor even refurbished the problem went away.

By the way is there any good video of AC Compressor replacement to go along with the manual? I've done multiple searches and can't find anything Thanks

I’m in the San Francisco area we have a lot of O’Reilly stores around us I have not come across a shop who has installed them yet and I have not seen one come in to any of my shops with a burnt out on yet.
I believe two years ago when I was at the mobile air conditioning societies parts of Ohio vendors expo I did see one manufacturer claiming to have Prius replacements.
But when it comes to quality on air-conditioning parts I have not came across anything that matches DENSO

Thanks for the reply. I spent most the watching videos from your youtube channel after got an online manual from library to replace my AC Compressor with 87K mile OEM Compressor and came to the realization I'm in over my head as far as fix the problem correctly despite researching, observing, looking for patterns, reading forum posts for literally year with this intermittent AC problem here:

Intermittent AC Problem 2004 Prius | PriusChat

Not only that neither are the shops I dealt with in my town on the east coast Wilmington, NC INCLUDING TOYOTA and their "AC Specialist" who had my 04 Prius 4 times with no solution. They let it leave the shop with a GLARING B1476 not addressing it and didn't even follow the steps to troubleshoot for it in their own manual. Told me it could be an internal leak. Come back in a few months........

The whole incentive on mechanic there and managment of car repair does not facilitae proper diagnosis. Mcdonalds of car repair. $1200 down the drain for diagnostics and replace air mix servo door that did nothing

Also shops that claim they are hybrid specialists using inferior parts that go bad a year later

So short of Driving all the way to CA and have you look at this FUBAR'd Prius AC how do I find an AC specialist that knows what they are really doing?

Should I call HVAC independents and ask if they work on cars?

Or go back to school and become a HVAC technician? lol

I have some mechanical aptitude working on helicopters in the military years ago but an nurse now

I could see myself getting equipment to replace compressor which would be inferior and cans and FUBAR it more based upon a few post of people throwing a refub ac compressor in there and telling all that it worked fine and dandy.

I hadn't been servicing it thinking you do that when it starts to not blow as cold.

Your videos are valuable education on what to avoid in shops and what to look for..

Today I did notice a pattern of the outside ambient temp shown on the screen consistently go up higher than temp reading outside the car. Like starting the car at 90 degrees then as I go places gets as high as 97

Last evac and recharge at AAA they claimed B1423 Pressure Switch which has bever come up on my AC self diagnostic and didn't come on afterwards. I'm pretty sure that code would present in the diagnostic from forum posts I read since it is a AC fault code. Getting to the point where I don't trust anybody
