Air Filters for Battry Fan?

From the diagram, it looks like those two filters (G92DH and G92DJ) are for sides of rear seats. Links to those two parts are below the diagram. I am not sure if the vent under the seat has the filter on it. It is not showing up on the diagram. @Elektroingenieur might know if the under the seat vent has a filter or not.

Is there a filter element or is it just a mesh and plastic screen?
Seems like you could remove and wash, if no paper element is present.

 

I just looked at my car. The vents on the both sides of rear seats seems to have pleated paper filter elements, but two vents at the bottom of the rear seats seems to have no filter elements. The bottom vent, there is one on the passenger side and one at the middle.

I did not have a ply tool to open the vent cover, but two on the sides of rear seats look removable, whereas the bottom vents do not have separate cover and they are integral part of the rear seat plastic fascia. That seems to indicate that the upper side vents do have replaceable filter elements but not the bottom vents.

 

^good to know! I hadn't looked close enough to see if there are paper elements - the p/n listed above seems to turn up just the grill/cover (at least in the images I saw).

The parts name says "Drive Motor Battery Pack Air Filter". But if they are just paper filter element, I think right side and left side can be the same parts. The fact they have separate parts numbers seems to indicate they are right and left specific. Maybe, the grille/cover and paper filter element is once piece construction? I am going to look for my ply tool to see if I can remove the cover.

Edit: OK, I tried removing the vent cover on the both sides of rear seats, but was unsuccessful. Either I don't have a right tool or don't know how, it won't budge. I was afraid of using too much force and breaking it. I did not want to mar my brand new car.

 

I think they come charcoal gray colored from the factory. It would be hard to tell visually if they are dirty. It seems unlikely that they would get dirty quickly unless you often charge or drive in very dusty environments.

You could just vacuum them with a brush attachment, or blow them off with compressed air.

 

I know it’s going to get frowned upon but I removed the filters altogether. On two different occasions, the filter had fallen off and slid down the fan tube. It was caught on the hybrid blower both times and I had to remove the rear panels in order to remove it. It made a horrible sound on the blower when it would get caught on it.

 

I just took a good look at mine the other day, when I spent a lot of time in the back seat measuring all sorts of things figuring out what fridge/freezer would both fit behind the passenger seat and level a camping bed going from there to the hatch. I had located the 2 filter part numbers, but not ordered them yet because I hadn't figured out the bottom filter/vent yet. Pretty unusual to find a Toyota part that's only $7.

I can't imagine why they would have changed it. But it only takes a couple minutes to find out.
