Two (or tow) alternatives: 1. Add a trailer tow harness and use that circuit to run the leds or 2: (my favorite) keep an extra bulb in the back cubby in case one of the car bulbs ever fails and save big (especially considering I have never had a turn signal light go out in eight years).

Here are more info, found on a car forum in China, that the car (not a toyota) happened to be also using the BTS5240 flasher chip.

He connected some wires from the chip to his custom made LED bulbs, and fine tuned the number of resistor needed before hyper flash stops AND keeping the faulty light bulb detection function at the same time

the owner replaced its resistors. Depending on what wattage LED bulb to be used, adding adequate resistors base on calculation.

As of this posting date, I get an Error 404 (and in Japanese, yet!)... any alternative links?

and yes, my dealer's 'electrical guy' said pretty much the same thing about there not being a separate, replaceable flasher...

It's the current draw that is being sensed, and I'm wondering whether or not a small electronic module could fool the flasher circuit into believing that the LEDs are really incandescent...

I bought mine on eBay and the seller is willing to let me return it and refund the nearly $19 for it.

    Yes, I believe they're called resistors. ;)

Hey, check my thread, we did it few my month back, you need to solder 2 resistors near the flash chip, better use adjustable ones

Just did this on my 2014 V. Using slavania LEDs
I needed to use a 22k resistors to get rid of the hyper blink

I used some small through hole resistors as I didn't have any smd ones on hand. After this was taken I applied some silicone to hold them in place long term.

22k worked well with the 1.7w white LEDs.
It hyperflashed with the 1.5w amber LEDs.

Replaced with a 33k and its working fine.
