they probably have done this on dealership because if the car will stand outside for days the tire pressure could get lower due to the weather or other circumstances. That's my best guess

    Those die-downs don't always help.

Hundreds of dollars worth of Hyundai and Kias lost....

Keen observers will notice the USGC helo (MH-65 Dolphin) sitting on the starboard quarter.

Salamander's video of loading the PCC (pure car carrier) is interesting. It is in Europe. I've watched PCCs being loaded in Yokohama. The drivers all drive like they're in the Harbor Formula 1 race. They have fun, and the ship gets out in a short time.

The MV Golden Ray capsized near Brunswich, Georgia, about a year ago. The thought is that the ship's salt water ballast tanks weren't correctly filled. Free surface effect is like carrying a large flat baking pan part full of water. Tip it just slightly and the water runs to one side, then it's unbalanced and it dumps. The ship's fuel and ballast tanks need to be either completely full or completely empty, except for the one tank in service, to eliminate excessive free surface effect. The Chief Engineer is responsible for the fuel tanks, under the direction of the Chief Mate, and the Chief Mate for the ballast tanks. If the tank levels were not displayed correctly by the instruments, or filled or pumped out in the incorrect order, or fluid leaks from one tank to another, or somebody didn't correctly follow orders...over she goes. Once the ship lists a certain amount, those lashings on the cars break, the cars fall to the low side, and the ship is doomed.

The Golden Ray's salvors had to remove the wrecked cars, pump out all the ship's heavy fuel oil and lube oil, then cut the ship up into pieces for scrapping. They're using special chains that go around the hull, then pulled up & down to saw through the steel hull. Think of a giant chain saw to cut steel. The cost of removing a sunk ship can be greater than the cost to build it. The insurers did not have a good year.
