When the first service is due what should I do when they're done with the car? SHould I go back adn just double check everything they've done? Also with the Pass Book (the book where Toyota stamps everytime you go in for maintenance) if that's not filled out each and everytime does that void a warranty or something?

    Thanks

My passbook has never been filled out by the dealer, but that won't void the warranty as long as I have the receipts as proof it was done. If you have it done at an oil-change place (or do it yourself) just keep the receipts.

You'll need to do some checking as they generally overfill the oil and change the tire pressure. I give them the oil and specify to put in only 3.5 quarts (and I would fill the rest).

For our first car's service, we took it to the dealer, specified that only the oil change be done (since we were getting new tires immediately afterward). Our one request was that they do not overfill the oil.

We got it home, and checked the oil, and guess what. Overfilled.

The bringing of our second car to this dealer for an oil change will be worded something such as the following. You have had your one strike in overfilling the oil, and if you do it again, we won't be back. Period. (We wish to give this dealer another chance because they have the most Prius techs of any dealer in Wisconsin, and it's only 10 minutes from home.)

Another comment about the tires. If you have other pressures than the factory specs, they'll probably change it back. That in itself would be OK, but the first time I took it to the dealer, they rotated the tires, but without changing the pressure. As a result, I ended up with 40 in the front and 42 in the back.

They also changed the temperature to an amusing, but rude, 69 degrees, but that's another story.

5,000 miles. The schedule calls for an oil and filter change, plus tire rotation. The dealership will probably overfill the oil. Check your tire pressures as they won't.
