    Hello everyone,
I had the check hybrid system stop vehicle in a safe place alert. Checked 12 volt battery and had corrosion on negative cable and post. Remove and cleaned, charged battery and tested, it failed, replaced battery. Code remains. Car does drive but acting lethargic.Car charges and shuts off upon completion. No mph while driving, shows 0 mph.No code seen with a regular scanner. Any advice besides taking to dealer?

hybrid assistant and torque are other reader apps. all the best and please keep us posted. i hope it is something simple, i wonder if anything in the engine department could throw the hybrid system message, like an o2 sensor or something.

Any recommendations for a quality Bluetooth OBD II adapter? I’ve read cheap ones can cause issues.

OBDLink LX will read just about anything. Carista will handle anything a Gen 3/PiP will throw at it. I have both. There are lots of other good ones discussed here on PS as @bisco mentioned.

Yes, the code is 0129. Brake system control module has lost communications.

    UPDATE
Well, I bit the bullet today and had my Pip towed 60 miles to the Toyota dealership. Just got the call that they found out the skid control ECU is bad.
    Quote is about $2k.

Is that the same as ABS? Because, the antilock brake systems usually work independently, and as such, you may be able to drive the vehicle without issue, other than no ABS.

My wife ran the gas to empty then limped to the gas station for a fill up. Several days after it shows this stop in safe place code after running fine for a few days. I'll be watching this thread but feel like I see a trip to the dealer. Tried the 'pull the red plug thingTried charging battery by pluging in but got same error code with addn't not charging notice. noticed a little corrosion around the 12 volt terminals, does that affect the recharge system?

Hello, what is the code your getting? IMHO I believe the 12v battery had something to do with it in my situation. The service writer told me it has 180k miles and that’s the reason. Not sure what to believe. This is the only issue I have had with my PIP. I’m very satisfied!! Good luck with your vehicle, wish you the best. Keep us posted please.

sorry to hear it, but better than a bad battery cell i suppose.
skid control ecu might be covered here. try search, hopefully, it is a simple repair with a salvage part.
a dealer quote for 2k is often a few hundred for the savvy diy'er.

you might want to post a new thread with that header in gen 3, it's probably the same thing, and might attract some of the experts here.

Thanks Bisco, I’m beyond that point now. Car is at dealership waiting on part, due tomorrow. From what I researched it would need to be programmed as well.
