With interest recently expressed elsewhere PriusChat, I open a discussion.

Now entering La Nina (ENSO negative), see these two:

    Climate Prediction Center - ONI
El NiƱo Today | El Nino Theme Page - A comprehensive Resource

When Sept ends we will be in La Nina, but not yet strongly so.

For western US forests, ENSO cycles push rain north or south, somewhat inconsistently, with effects on 'fuel' growth and fires. 2020 is being a high fire year in western US forests, but I don't see ENSO causing it.

I know no evidence that (CO2 etc.) climate change has changed ENSO cycles so far. That ought to be enough to start discussion.

The SST cooling in the equatorial Pacific is becoming quite impressive

That this La Nina will be of at least middle strength.
