Clearing out the garage before moving to a new house. Going through a bunch of my car stuff. Came across a timing light and a tach.

For those of us that store our teeth next to the bed at night.....you may remember setting timing, points, all that good stuff.

Oh, and the good old manual choke....How many drivers nowadays know what I am talking about there...

Well, I have not used either of them since -- whew, maybe the early 2000s, maybe the late '90s, so I guess they gotta go.

Hate to throw them out -- remember the proud day I had enough cash to buy them (I think I was 20 and the local parts store had a big sale).

But can't imagine Goodwill wants them (or if they are even taking donations at the moment) and not going to expend a lot of energy looking for a place to pass them along....

But, if any of you do have a reason I should keep them, or a suggestion on what may constitute a proper burial....

Our 81 civic had a manual choke, nary a problem. Then our 83 Accord with an auto choke: I don't want to talk about it.

Still got a cheapo strobe in bottom of tool box. Might have a clip-on tach, can't remember.

Look for a donation drop-off for a Church, Salvation Army, or GoodWill.
I can report that on free soil in the US, Goodwill donation sites and retail stores are operating.

These items do not have to be landfill fodder, especially since All Hallow's Eve is approaching, and might actually be celebrated in some flyover states.

    (***) WARNING!!
People may not remember this, but timing lights were often shaped like a gun of the hand!
    Handle with great care!!

Yes, looks like a big gun.

Back in the day when Sears had everything and people actually used to buy much of their stuff at Sears...

I always liked fussing around with the timing and points.

I only had one car with a manual choke, IIRC...it was a '62 straight six Ford Falcon. Auto tranny, and AIR CONDITIONING and a manual choke.

No big deal was a lot less trouble than the automatic choke on my '78 Datsun 210

I had the foresight to sell mine during a neighborhood yard sale, back when more people still had use for them.

If only I had similar foresight for the rest of my collection of archaic space-wasters ...

Well, my father-in-law, who supposedly should have died many times in the past few years still hangs on.

If -- when -- he does go, we will have an "estate sale," and I could put these in that muck. But, that could be a few more years.

Had an experience of selling stuff on Craigslist a few years back. No one ever showed -- I did not meet them at my house. So, not doing that again. I will try the local charities, but doubt they will want them.
