I have a 2010 Prius and according to Toyota the ABS actuator is bad for a tune of 4000.00 dollars parts and labor. I have a rear sensor error and the cruise control will not work( I believe because of the ASB not working). I can get a used one for under 200.00. Is there a way a person can do this at home? I have worked on cars all my life and am quite handy. I under stand that you need a scan tool to bleed it after replacement but have seen some people bleed by doing it manually by turning system into maint. mode. If someone is knowledgeable on this or has done this on a gen 3 I would like to hear your advise. Thanks Gregg

Thanks for the reply. The techstream is needed to bleed the brakes after actuator replacement?

According to the service manual, there's a non-techstream way.

Cr94 have you ever bled brakes using this method? I have seen this on youtube and looks like it should work

No I haven't, by either method. Still trying to decide whether to attempt changing the fluid myself as I have on normal cars, or be a coward and have the dealer do it. Somewhere on this site there's a post with a pdf attachment of the relevant section of the official service manual.

It's actually quite easy to bleed the brakes manually :)

Replaced the Actuator and now have many codes c1203,c1392,c1364,c1345,c1247,c1246 I think it needs to have the actuator bleed. I do not know if the manual bleed will fix this. I have ordered a techstream and will have to wait to bleed it.

You can only bleed the ABS thru the techstream software (or similar software).can't do it manually.

Did you wind up buying a Mini VCI and if so, vers 1.4 or 2.0?

Also, what version of techstream did you use and what computer?

Any suggestions regarding which MiniVCI to invest in?
