I have a Toyota Prius 2006 which has rolled 160,000km.

It was just working fine, and i was out of town for 10 days and when i come back I had a flat tyre. I tried to move the car to take it to tyre shop but when i noticed that it cannot be moved i parked it back.

Now the car is not moving at all.

Here is a small video i have made:

When i try to start the car, it says "Problem" in the screen and all the lights are on in dashbord. It was coming to "Drive" mode before, but now it's only In "P" or "N".

Any help with this, is highly appriciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to PriusChat!!

Would you happen to have any scanned OBD2 codes (DTCs) that you could post here for us?

    Thank you.

I have not scanned it yet, i do not have much knowledge of cars to be honest.

Can you suggest a good OBD2 scanner (something cheap and avaliable in Europe mostly)? Is there any app that i can use?

Check both batteries. It appears the HV battery is very weak (1 bar). Letting an old, weak battery sit unused for several days can trip codes. The pandemic shutdown has caused many packs to do this (fail).

    GOOD LUCK!

Do you mean the hybrid battery is having issue? How can i check that?

The 12v battery is working, since the remote is opening and closing the doors.

Any link to a seller which would sell both the software and the cable who will ship to europe?

Sorry if i ask too much, a dumb mechanic has told my wife that the hybrid battery is dead and it would cost around 1500 euro + labor. First i do not have this money to fix this car and i dont think it's wise to spend this amount of money of such an old car. :(

yeah its got the turtle and one red bar the hybrid battery has died.
Start reading about hybrid battery's on this site in the technical section.

Lots of reading to do. Every G2 hybrid battery is failing including mine.

Maybe a Swedish member (like @DicedPixel ) can help, can't remember all of them, so you might use the search feature. Pretty sure there are shipping or forwarding services, but none off the top of my head. Many use ebay to purchase (have you tried https://www.ebay.se ), and others might use aliepress or banggood, if not in a hurry. The software is generally included one way or another, sometimes a cd, or a link, or you email and ask for it. You can find it just about anywhere online : techstream download at DuckDuckGo
A $1500 battery would last for at least 10 years ( < .50 per day). You could do the HV battery installation yourself, not hard or dangerous. You could also fix the existing HV battery pack and save some money as well, only depends on your level of commitment and down time.

Maybe you could find a decent used NiMH battery from a wrecked gen2, gen3 or gen4 (or other toyota hybrid) : http://en.bildelsbasen.se/

What vehicle with only 160,000km could you purchase for $1500?

Hej @Chalipa, I use a Carista ODB2 adapter with the TorquePro app for diagnostics on my gen4 Prius.
But for verifying the hybrid battery's status, I would recommend the Dr.Prius/ Dr.Hybrid app with the Carista dongle.
By the looks of your video, the hybrid battery is dead :(
For a gen2, I would not even bother asking Toyota for a new battery in Sweden.
Would be great if you can find a working hybrid battery from a totaled gen2 prius.

Read your codes. You will probably find you have a P0AA6-612.

Its got a high voltage ground fault code which means leaking or corrosion to ground from the hybrid battery most likely cracked leaking battery module.

    Pretty common.

Hybrid battery needs to come out its going to be pretty corroded.

I only got the car 2 days ago with 144400klm milage, previous owner said he repaired the battery and replaced invertor (synergy drive box) and ECU, he gave me the old ecu and invertor, I put the orignal ecu back same thing.
so may be when repairing the battery something wen wrong while putting it back? I have to take it out and check i guess..

The previous owner probably did not need to replace the inverter or ECU.

If you have confirmed you have a P0AA6 with sub-code 612, you have one or more hybrid vehicle (HV) battery modules that are leaking electrolyte. This is causing an electrical voltage pathway from then high voltage DC to the car's body ground. Normally the hybrid vehicle battery is completely electrically isolated from the 12V system.

You need to open up the HV battery and find the leaking modules and replace them. In addition, you need to completely clean off any trace of electrolyte that has leaked on to the battery case. The case then needs to be completely dry before reassembling the case.

Having introduced well-matched (capacity and voltage) modules, you would be advised to recondition and balance the battery.

May be you are right because the triangle thing comes up randomly after I clear it sometimes 1 hour sometimes 2 minutes after I start driving...

But even though the car still drives with full power and battery showing charging very normal goes to full bars up and down as usual... Very strange...

With this code that is exactly what happens in a Gen 2. It is not strange at all. It is still a serious problem that should be addressed sooner rather than later. It does have the potential to be very dangerous what with leaking high voltage DC and all.

I will find the time and open the battery pack, I have to take off all the panels what a pain... I need to do it safely for sure too.
