Charles, it appears the car had not done an initial location record to the cloud when I was testing it, so yesterday it came up as "no location found". Today, I started the car, used it, then came back this afternoon and tested and now it is working fine. I read that querying the app does not trigger the car to send its current location. It only sends the location to the Entune app once when you turn off the vehicle.

But yes, I had already setup everything with the registration, the contract ID, the web account, the app, etc. and everything else was working fine except the find location. But now location works too.

I often forget which row I parked the car in large lots and this helps. I also like the remote climate feature to warm up the car during the winter.

I am glad you got this sorted out. There is Refresh icon on the top right of the Charge Management screen. This causes the cloud server to contact the car to get current charge and location info. Otherwise, as you have found out, the cloud information is only updated when the car is turned off.

The remote climate / defrost is the by far the best feature it has to offer.

Charge management is nice too, lets you know what your predicted range is currently and sends updates when you're done charging.

The rest of it I honestly could do without although i can see the find my car thing useful if you forgot where you parked

That is what I thought it would do the first time I tried it. However, when I refreshed, it kept telling me "no location found". It kept doing that until I went, started the car and shut it off again.

I renewed my safety connect for the first time. I got the contract number from the agent on the SOS button, but it does not work when I enter it on my entune app or web site- worked fine until I renewed now I cant use charge management. Called safety connect and entune big waste of time. Is the ID number 1diget followed by - then followed by six digits?

You may want to ask @ems2158 in this thread Safety Connect Fiasco | PriusChat how he finally got his safety connect renewed and reconnected. Yeah, Toyota seems to have no interest in servicing their Connected services after initial free period ends. That is one reason, I opted out of the Safety Connect on my new 2020 Prime immediately after the purchase. I did not have the service in my 2017 Prime and did not miss it.

This is a copy of the relevant text from the email I received from Toyota:
If you intend to reactivate services, the Data Communication Module (DCM) in your vehicle is equipped with software that may require an update at this time. In order to maintain full functionality of your Safety Connect services, please contact your Toyota dealer to make an appointment to have the software update performed free of charge to you.

I never got to to dealer to have this "update" applied. Because of the pandemic, I was required to drop the car off and get a rental car to get home.
I wasn't going to pay $60 for a rental car to maybe get the safety connect service reinstated.

I have given up on ever getting safety connect working again. It's just not worth all the trouble.

I could not get those apps to work again after I renewed last week. After about 3 hours of calling entune/safety connect they finally gave me my contract ID number that the entune app was asking for. Then the problem was the app said the contract ID was invalid. Safety connect took my info gave me a ticket number and said they would get tech support to fix it and get back to me within three days- of course they never did . I canceled my safety connect today. Total waste of my time.

So much hassle for so little benefit, that's why I canceled my safety connect the day I purchased my new 2020 Prius Prime. I did not want to be bothered by it 3 years later. If I never have it from the beginning, then I don't miss it not having it later.

Why did you cancel? I never activated it in the first place, nor did I ever download the Entune apps so cancelling wasn't an option.

For 2020 models and most likely any models after 2020, Safety Connect is standard for all trims including Prius Prime LE. The Safety Connect was ON and active on the day I bought it and drove it out of the dealer's lot. No activation was necessary. If you read a small print from Toyota, the purchasing of a car equipped with connected service and not actively deactivating such services is taken as a consent to opt-in and give a full permission to Toyota to collect your personal information and vehicle data. I had to actively opt-out in order not to have the service included. I have read on other thread some owner was getting solicitation of auto insurance based on the driving record monitored by the car and uploaded to Toyota a few weeks after purchasing the car. I don't allow such violation of privacy without consent.

See small print from Toyota on Privacy notice.

    Privacy and protection
When you purchased or leased your vehicle, your vehicle may have been equipped with an active Connected Services system which operates by collecting data from you and your vehicle, including vehicle location, health and driving data, to support navigation assistance, emergency services, remote engine start, maintenance alerts, infotainment apps and more.

When you lease or buy a vehicle equipped with Connected Services, data collection is active. You may deactivate Connected Services at any time by contacting us; and we will no longer collect your Personal Information, Location Data, Driving Data and Vehicle Health Data.

If you do not deactivate Connected Services, you specifically consent to our electronic collection and use of your personal information and vehicle data and our storage of such data wherever we designate.

Wow...my 2017 required us to get in the car and activate it, with a code and such. I never did it. They sent me a nasty-gram 6 months later telling me to do it, which I threw away.

After reading this, I'm glad a software glitch disabled my Safety Connect.

My safety connect expired two weeks ago. I had not planned to renew anyway after using it 3 years, but Toyota sent 5 snail mails in 3 weeks trying to get me to extend. Then I got a SiriusXM snail mail yesterday for my 2014 4Runner. They just don't give up.

It's funny. Over my life I must have received tens of thousands of pieces of mail and phone calls trying to sell me something, and I've never bought a single thing that way. Not one.

Me neither. That's like what I told the Toyota sales guy in 2017. I told him if he called me at home asking when I was ready to trade, etc., like they do every few months, that'd they would never see me again. They listened and have not called. I was impressed.

Interesting the different opinions on SafetyConnect. The lack of the Prime Apps (charge management, vehicle locator, remote climate control) in the 2020 Prime was sufficiently important to me that it was an absolute showstopper when I was asked if I wanted to upgrade to a 2020.
