Today the Maint Req light came on, but it's only on after holding the brake and hitting the power button. As soon as the engine starts it goes out.

My CAN scanner shows no codes. Dr. Prius finds nothing either, except on the internal resistance one of the blue blocks on the graph was just a thin line while the rest were the same height. Hard to read the tiny numbers even with reading glasses and a high resolution Galaxy S8 phone display.

Got over 5,000 miles on it since purchase, the dealer changed the oil then. Due for another oil change?

Only around 125K miles on the car but there are some squeaky/clunky noises I'm hearing when the engine starts and stops. Anything mechanical I should be looking at? I had to replace the water pump right after getting the car.

Are any fuel system cleaner additives recommended or should they all be stayed away from on these due to the weird fuel tank?

Maintenance light just comes up every 5k. At minimum the schedule will say rotate tires and change the oil. Every 30k change filters, every 100k change fluids. Check everything else in theory. See attached.

That says to reset the light but doesn't say how to do it. So I'm going to get oil and a filter for it.

There is a procedure in the manual to reset the Maint. Req -- so can I be a bitch and say RTFM :p -- for resetting the maint. required light. It is a PIA.

If you do not have the manual, if you register on the Toyota Owners site, the URL escapes me, it has access.

    1. Press the “POWER” switch to the “OFF” mode with the odometer reading displayed instead of a trip meter.

    2. Press the “POWER” switch twice to select the “IG−ON” mode while holding down the trip meter reset button. Hold down the button for at least 5 seconds. The odometer indicates “000000” and the light goes off.

Light reset. Now to see if oil and filter and transmission fluid costs more than just having a Toyota dealer do the job. ;)

Was that way on changing the transmission fluid and filter in a "Brand F" truck. Materials cost plus the @#%&* of trying to do the job without a lift was more than just having the dealer do it.

Owners' manuals are also on the non-paywalled side of techinfo.toyota.com. No steenkin' registration required.

Yep, safely jacking and blocking the car is the number one priority if you want to do maintenance yourself. You need a 24mm socket or wrench to remove the transmission fill plug, and a 10mm allen driver for the drain plug (in line with/ below the fill plug)-check out youtube videos as you do NOT want to pull the coolant drain plug on the trans. As well as some kind of pump (or syringe filler) to put the almost 4qts of Toyota WS fluid back in the trans.

Yup. Have watched videos on transmission fluid change. Pretty certain I don't have a 10mm allen, despite all the SAE and metric tool accumulation I have from a lifetime plus dad's lifetime of acquisitions. I hate having to buy a tool for one specific job and it never gets used again, at least not for that same job, or in its original form...

After reading a bunch on what fluid and oil people have had good luck with in the 2nd gen I'm thinking of Redline D6 and Royal Purple 5W20. The Redline D6 says it meets Toyota WS specifications. Definitely won't be using a cheap Fram oil filter.
