Looking for prius mechanic in Syracuse NY

    I'm looking for either a Prius mechanic in Syracuse NY. Or someone who is willing to help/lend me a copy of techstream so I can fully diagnose my VSV issue. Any suggestions are welcome.

    I’m in East Syracuse.
    Have 348,000 miles on my’07.

    Odd unrelated question...

    Did the timing chain go out yet at nealy 350k?

    Techstream only requires the cable most copies are free

    I got mine off eBay


    If you don't have a laptop that's older you may need to run an emulator

    Some versions only run with windows seven

    I'd honestly buy an old laptop off eBay that has that operating system


    It's what I did

    For Toyota Lexus Mini VCI J2534 OBD2 Diagnostic Cable TIS Techstream V14.30.023 | eBay

    That comes with a CD version and the cable

    Or just shop around


    Techstream is a life saver for so many things

    I was goin to buy a high end scan tool like an autel but techstream basically does everything

    I don't have the techstream yet. I live over the Brighton Hill area. The issue I have is getting a code of P0446 (VSV) wanted to trouble shoot it to see if there was something more specific before replacing a bunch of parts. My Prius is an 08. I"m also not an apple user at this point.

    Techstream online runs inside a windows environment, though you can emulate or try https://www.winehq.org/
