Car won't jump start

That's a sign of high voltage leak. Try disconnecting the 12 volt battery for a minute. That will clear any codes. After reconnecting the 12 volt battery and with your foot on the brake push the power button twice.

 

The Prius was the only car that gave me hard time jump starting. I tried both from the engine bay and the battery itself connecting two different sets of jumper cables and did not do anything. I finally called roadside assistance and the guy jump start it easily with one of these new heavy duty lithium chargers.

 

That is strange. 12V battery in Prius does not provide a lot of current. Just enough power to boot up multiple ECU's. It should not take a lot to jump.

OP's issue though may be valid if HV battery is discharged.

 

pretty easy to check just turn on the headlights in bright. If there nice and bright its not the 12 volt battery.
A dvm is best to confirm that measured at the front jump points. Hope your using those.

Then you must have a red triangle on the dash and a little icon of a car in the upper left corner of the screen above the radio which means the hybrid battery has failed.
Your not alone there all failing becasue nobody is driving anymore. That will kill an old battery. or in your case its very corroded and throwing a ground fault.
That can be confirmed like previously said and you may even be able to drive it but it will soon throw that code again.

 

Well, I was working on a Gen2 that had something wrong and the battery was flat- at 5 volts. Put my booster pack on it to drive it inside and it readied up ok. Once inside I was going put a charger on the battery and test the car for any key off draw with an amp clamp.

Before I shut the car off I took the booster pack off and checked the amount of current going into the battery while the car was still ready- my eyebrows went up when I saw it was 60 amps.

Add to that the roughly 20 amps needed to power up the car, and you might not have enough power to jump start the car if your jumper cables aren't hooked up securely.
