accused of accepting bribes from Abramoff. Republicans forced him to step down.

ok...

What should Harry Reid do if he did pocket a cool $1,100,000.00 in profits from this real estate deal he obviously hid from everyone - not filing the appropriate ethics forms and other disclosure documents? I say this is in effect a bribe too - without Harry Reid's name on the deal they would never have gotten the rezoning they needed to reap a profit from that real estate investment. Harry knew full well he was invited in on this only to use his name and a quid pro quo existed that netted him his $1,100,000.00 windfall profit.

What say you?

Its a shame, but good to see people are finally being called to the carpet.. :)

Another lie. Ney has not yet stepped down, although Republicans (and Democrats) have said they will remove him when they reconvene in November if he does not. Please stop it with the lies.

From Yahoo news: Ney pleads guilty; GOP vows ouster
"Ney did not immediately resign from Congress, and within minutes, Republican and Democratic leaders vowed to expel him unless he steps down."

You are correct - I was commenting on a cnn report. here are the facts as they currently stand:

If he does not quit, the Republicans will force him out.

Now where are the Dems with Harry Reid?

I wait to see what the Dems are going to do with Harry Reid now.

So...this thing with Ney has been going on for months, the verdict just came down and he hasn't even resigned. We learn about Reid today and he should resign now when it has yet to be proven any crime took place. If he's guilty so be it, but I think it's too early to be talking as if the outcome is obvious.

Me thinks you're trying a little deflection from the GOP.

Actually, over in the Harry Reid thread, Dr. Berman said:<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(dbermanmd @ Oct 13 2006, 10:14 AM) </div>
And his point in his previous post is valid. If one of the criticisms of the GOP in recent days has been that they didn't do anything when one of their own misbehaved (to be nice), then the Democrats need to step up and prove that they're different. That means telling Harry Reid to step down as Senate Minority Leader while the ethics committee investigates.

I can't believe I just agreed with Dr. Berman again. Cue the flying pigs. :)

My head hurt when I tried to read what Reid did...I'm no financial expert. Still, I believe there are some differences.

For all we know, everything Reid did may be legal, and that's true for Foley too. I think the issue with Foley is the "cover up". The idea that this may have been known for months or years, and the truth was hidden to protect the Republican's political reputation.

Remember, it wasn't the Watergate break-in that brought down Nixon, it was the cover-up.

And let me add that I really don't like Reid. It's just that everyone in Washington is comparing Apples to Apples, and there are a lot of Oranges in the pile.

Nope Foley did do something illegal and not only did he shoot himself in the foot but his republican colleagues help him steady his aim so that he couldn't miss.

It is leagl to have sex with a 16 year old in the DC. But due to legislation pushed by the Republican party it is not legal to solicit sex (did he do that?) or I would guess have those type of communications with a person under the age of 18 over the internet. So while Foley could have engaged in the physical act of sexual intercourse with the Page and not be guilty of a crime he could not communicate with him/her over the internet about it. Talk about a catch 21! DOH!

p.s. What should be done about the people that knew and what about the people that withheld the information of this situation for 3 years?
