I have an 2009 Prius Touring Edition with 130k miles on it. Bought used, drove great the first few months. 4 months later I have just the Red Triangle light come on intermittently then turn off while driving 30 min one way, then again 30 min back. Parked it after that day, found out that there was no coolant in the reservoir. Refilled it with the red coolant, and a few days pass without issue. Checked up on it again on the 3rd or 4th day and I noticed it still retained the coolant. Making maybe a single 2 hour round trip a day everyday since. Another day or two goes by and within driving 100ft the Red /!\, Orange (( ! )), VSC and Check Engine light come on along with the message across the top of the headunit's climate control & ect. display with another Exclamation point in the middle of a red car icon. Held the Display button while turning on/off the headlights to run the diagnostic on voltage and it was at 11.8v-11.9v for the smaller battery. 13.8v for the main while running. I did not have any codes ran on it yet and am in the process of figuring out what exact MiniVC dongle I need to do so to avoid paying $160 for the dealership to do it until necessary. I've read into a lot of other cases talking about a coolant (name escapes me as I think about it) part that has not been "recalled" but campaigned to be replaced before 60k miles or something. However, what I haven't read anything about pertaining to my situation; Is the rear a/c vent by the back right passenger seat suddenly coming on and not turning off simultaneously as these lights came on. I turned my A/C on and it blew cold but I haven't left it on that long to see how long it takes to see if it does get hot while on.

    Welcome to PriusChat!!

Please post the OBD2 codes (DTCs) when you're able, and we can offer additional guidance.

If the backseat intake for the HV battery fan is noticeably louder, you could have a failing HV battery and should start planning accordingly.

Can anyone link me to the proper MiniVC dongle on Amazon I'd need to purchase to run the codes myself and where to get the Techstream software?

They are all basically the same dongle. Ebay will also have it, and the price could be less, guessing around $15 shipped.

If not included, then any old version of TS will be fine as well. Read some of the posts here : https://blog.obdii365.com/tag/mini-vci/

Which metroplex in FL are you nearest?

Maybe don't worry about it, unless you're sharing passwords or CC's, or whatever else the big G thinks is more evil than itself

If you've already installed techstream, and it works, then you most likely don't need to read the related content at that blog anyway.

Did the cable come with installation instructions, drivers, or software?

Do you have any OBD2 codes (DTC) that you can post here for us?

    I've still not yet been able to install Techstream and it won't let me progress any further than that screen I screenshotted when I click the link. Also now the car sounds like this when started;

    *Won't let me post video*

Bad, it sounds bad. Like an old box Chevy ready to backfire. Possibly from sitting these past few weeks? I'm afraid to let it run, let alone drive it.

If the mini-vci didn't ship with software or installation instructions, then you might try contacting the seller for help.

Have you tried using a different browser to get around the above perceived security issue?

When all else fails, do a search for a different techstream download source, as there must be plenty.
Do you think the catalytic converter was stolen while it was sitting for so long?

So your thread came to an abrupt halt. I am having similar problem, sans loud motor, and would love to hear what you eventually found. Having trouble finding my mini VCI so a headstart in thinking would be helpful. Thanks

I don't believe the catalytic converter was stolen. Going to have to get it towed to the dealership so that they can run the codes and then have it towed back, nothing's ever so simple as of late. Need to find a reliable mechanic who specializes in this vehicle who'll only do what's necessary without over charging.

Exactly. I'll do my best to keep this updated as I see it through to an end.

Maybe one of our esteemed FL members can help scan it. Todd is a solid mechanic or might be able to recommend someone.

Home - Tampa Hybrids Inc. : you can send Todd a PM @TampaPrius.com

Not at the moment - it seems to be broken. I'd just go directly to the website.

UPDATE: Have yet to get it scanned. . . I know. . .

After moving it into the drive way I've found some interesting things; A large bolt underneath on the ground and these wires are hanging. Any ideas?

Pictures taken from front passenger side.

Location of wires and bolt is in between the driver and passenger side seat.

Looks like one of your esteemed neighbors was able to borrow the catalytic converter.
