Thanks for the heads up on the pm functionality dolj.

Aegean, I just want one to pick up my huge relatives from Dulles when they fly in. I have a Tribeca B9 and their knees hit the seats. Would also be nice to tow in peace and go over the huge ruts that we have in our gravel roads down here. 8.5 mpg though....wow! Still it could mostly sit...maybe a 7.3 Diesel would be nice but so much money for rust buckets, lol.

But try not to be stubborn about it to the point of your own detriment.

Shipping wet batteries can be a problem. Do you have a small charger to charge it up.......because most are shipped with the acid in a separate bottle and MUST be filled and charged before use.

Then should you get the one in ten thousand that is bad from the factory, returning it now that the acid is IN it can be a BIG problem.

And what will you do with the old one ??

A really lot of folks here seem to recommend Pep Boys for Prius batteries.
(Edit: Well I see that "shipping" won out. Good luck. Please finish out the thread with the results.)

An online search should quickly give you an idea of what the "average" price is these days.
You may have to accept the fact that it is higher than you would like.

Are you saying that I should return the battery that I ordered? If it is hard to return then isn't it a bit late?

I do have a small AGM charger ready to go. Old one....just go to Advance Auto and turn it in for a 5 dollar gift card.

Oh....I see you edited. I will keep you updated! Thanks for the thoughts.

Also, didn't notice the shipping of the acid separately. Will keep an eye out for that. Can't imagine that the 65 year old grandma who seems to show up in every review would have a problem with that. Heck it always takes her 5 minutes lol!

All instructions say to add distilled water. Acid should be dry and inside. I'd be surprised if it shipped with sulfuric acid to pour in. That'd be crazy....

On the distilled water thing. Are these battery types sealed? I will pay attention, thanks. I have distilled water handy.

I am not sure if you checked this particular battery but it is AGM which means sealed and maintenance free. There is no distilled water coming separately like the traditional batteries.

No it doesn't. Not any battery that I have ever seen.

Either they come with the acid full INSIDE the battery or the acid is in a separate plastic bottle.
You can NOT remove all of the water from "acid" and have the same compound again just by adding back water.

Where do people get these wild ideas ????

Alright this gets weirder. I ended up getting the battery for free in the end. I ordered the extended warranty and wondered where the warranty went as I looked at my order. I then called Amazon to ask what happened to the extended warranty. They said that I never ordered it (which I did) but that I could buy it separately which I did AGAIN. I then received an email from the warranty company showing the terms of the warranty. The warranty ended up running in parallel with the 2 year Delco warranty which is supposed to stink anyways. So I'd only be able to enjoy the warranty until 2023 instead of the warranty picking up after the Delco warranty expired. This is *NOT* what it said in the shopping cart when I purchased the battery. It clearly stated that the warranty explicitly picked up when the factory warranty expired.

Just prior to being advised that I could buy the warranty AGAIN, I asked Amazon if I could refuse the package if I could not purchase the warranty separately.

I complained to the warranty company about the warranty not running sequentially to the manufacturer's warranty and asked for another year for the hassle of having to complain. I received an email back telling me that their warranties did not cover batteries.

I then went back to Amazon and told them that I would have refused this battery without the extended warranty (based on the poor reviews) and now it's too late to return it. After a little bit of the reps pretending not to understand the issue (they kept trying to ignore the issue with the battery and focused on refunding me for the warranty), they refunded me for both.

Free battery. I guess whatever I can get out of it isn't so bad. A little hassle, yes but thought I'd share this.

Most people wouldn't be as forgiving.
This is a perfect example of one of MANY ways that ordering a battery to have it shipped can go wrong.
Sometimes in even ends up being more expensive than walking into a "battery store" and buying the exact same one.

I bought some SLA batteries shipped by Amazon. They sent the wrong ones. I called them and they said due to not being able to ship them I could keep them, then refunded me the money. I ordered again and got the right type.

Glad you got a free battery out of the hassle! I got an extended warranty on eBay for my 12 V but it's now expired after two years...

Oh lol. Not a biggie for me. I delayed the inevitable and expect to be reporting back at the 16 month mark that the battery died. Will see what happens.

Interesting that Amazon sells a warranty that can allegedly not be used for the item they sell. Wow. Still, I am happy that they are relatively liberal about returns often allowing you to keep things when they cannot accept them and sometimes beyond that. Have to nudge the reps who play stupid a little bit but it usually works out.
