    Good info, thanks.

    We have an LCS-30, so I guess this doesn’t apply to us. Oh well...

    There is a chance that we could trade our old Gen-2 Prius on a full BEV, in which case we’ll have two cars to charge. Then again, (before COVID19) I drove 40-45 miles which, between our LCS-30 at home and chargers at work, we can I charge that just fine. Meanwhile, my wife drives very few miles per day — in fact most days doesn’t drive at all. The chances well need to charge both at the same time are actually pretty low.

    I noticed it is cheaper to buy two separate units than this single dual-head charger but I guess this assumes you already have two outlets available.

    Might fit a certain niche if easily accessible to both vehicles and neither needs full available power simultaneously.

    In our case we have two HCS-40P NEMA 14-50P units on opposite sides of the garage. Garage cabinetry towards the front leaves no room for a unit like the HCS-D40.

    It does cost 2x+ two separate similarly powered units, although that's one fewer line to run conduit and other electrician expenses. However, the other issue is that it is max 7.7kW of power at 32A x 240V, like each HCS-40P. This is not a problem for the Prime, but most other PHEVs/BEVs can take at/near full power such as our Leaf and M3. Current Prime owners might want to "future-proof" by having max power available to both vehicles they may own years down the road.

    Happy with our trouble free ClipperCreek units, the oldest 8 years.

    And outlets of sufficient capacity. We got the LCS-30 because it was the only 24A (meaning 30A breaker, code requiring a 20% buffer) model we could find. If we were to go up to a dual charger, we’d have to beef up our breaker box.

    Just purchased EnelX JuiceBox. But I will not be needing two chargers for a while unless we decide to trade-in our Pathfinder Hybrid to something with as large of cargo and plug-in. Currently, Pacifica PHEV is the only car that fits the bill.

    Hmm, the way I understand it, is that the dual charger uses the same amperage as your outlet, it just divvies it up between the two heads (kinda like a public charger).

    So basically you can split the power between your two cars and will adjust the split on the fly (e.g. as one reaches full and starts stepping down, it’ll shift more power to the other car).
