Yes, facts are inconvenient to your arguments. Yet facts they are all the same.

Too many facts to elaborate on, but it’s obvious which camp your in. Do some research if you really care.

Yet you still provide no facts. OTOH, having here studied economics for years, am waiting for you to enlighten.

It shows Tesla is a small fish in a big lake with much bigger fish - clock is ticking in the competitions favor. First VW, Ford soon, and many more coming.

No, it shows time after time your statements are shown to be wrong, then never correct these false assertions but rather change the subject endlessly. In logic/debate architecture, that falls under the "con man" category.

I can’t be wrong, I bought a Mirai. You know that Mirai in Japanese means Future? Future is coming and so is the competition. That’s if we still have the financial means to buy these luxury items.

so .... first we talked about market decline, then we talked about auto manufacturers decline, & talj of 'worst recessions" ..... yet when Tesla still posts decent sales, you post (#8) how they did poorly? ...... because they didn't hit even loftier & higher profit expectations? Nice. Next diversion please.

No, you are trying to shift the topic away from how you claimed Tesla is doing poorly because they didn't reach their own sales target while still having record sales volume.

I provided 3 Toyota models as examples of not reaching announced sales targets to show that this isn't a sign of failure. Two were the PiP and Prime, but you responded to just the Mirai.

    First paragraph,
"World Best Selling Car ranking updated at April 2020 reports the shocking news of a pure electric vehicles joining the Top 25 models in the entire Globe. The Tesla Model 3, jumps ahead 77 positions and fly in 25th with near 100k sales."

So the first BEV on this top 25 list is the Model 3. A car that has only been available for 3 years.

It would be really shocking if the Model 3 approached the Corolla. It is a comparison of an upscale performance sedan to a lower cost name plate available as a sedan, hatchback, wagon, and now crossover. Where are Tesla's direct competitors on that list? The Model 3 is greatly outselling the Lexus IS in the US by an order of a magnitude.
That's great news. Even Musk wants more competition as more choices means more plug ins on the road.

Know who that isn't good news for?

    Hydrogen cars.

More plug in choices of varying prices, and a wide spread and expanding infrastructure, make choosing an expensive hydrogen car, with limited and costly fuel, a poorer prospect to the public.

Musks expectations are not inline with reality.

That’s were I disagree as more countries restrict the sale of ICE, folks will be looking at alternatives. Hydrogen is an alternative as is BEV. People will need to chose what works best for their individual needs. As stated before education on EV choices for most is needed. California sales of Hydrogen is limited, but that is also in part to no sales outside two states.

I may be a hypocrite because my wife has reservations for a Y and Cybertruck but whenever I think of an EV now I'm reminded of the somewhat recent Flex Alerts we were getting in the heat wave that also accompanied the fires. Cars take a huge amount of electricity. Last (electrical yearly cycle) with my wife's Clarity charging often we had about $50 end of year credit due to solar. This year we are at around $600 with end in April of next year. Will the grid support this shift???

EDIT-. Forgot to mention we've been driving the Clarity as a hybrid...

    Yes.

With no change on the residential (solar) generation side we will need 2% growth in generation annually which is easily done. Of course home/residential and commercial generation growth will also continue and the cost of batteries for grid storage at industrial and residence level will improve as well.

Between our Nissan Leaf and Tesla Model 3 and entire home air/water heating/cooling electrified/fossil fuel free, we still run net negative (over-generate). If we stay in the same place, hoping to install batteries in the future.

So with the concerns of the high winds and possibly fire danger in NorCal, power will be shut off for some starting tomorrow thru Tuesday. Your point is valid.

Issues with the grid will effect gas and hydrogen stations too.

There are lists of gas stations that have emergency generators for times like these. Don’t know about Hydrogen, but more hydrogen locations are being opened at existing gas stations, So there is a good chance they are functional as well.

Earlier this year, Tesla announced it installed its 100,000th Powerwall. Demand and deliveries continue to grow. They are the leader but not the only battery backup manufacturer.

Since there is a strong correlation between concomitant BEV driving with solar/battery backup, this likely means more BEV drivers can charge during power outages than ICE/H2 can refuel during such times.

Not too sure about that. Our solar was installed in 2013 and back then battery backup was too expensive and based on lead acid batteries, so we did not opt for it. Power out, we don't charge. Also, with TOU, at least for us, charge at/after 10 pm for the lower $0.13/kW hr rate. I guess we could be an outlier nowadays but that's the way it is for us....
