Howdy, within this past week, I've noticed a new sound that occurs when I press the park button, or turn the car off without pressing the button. The sound is a quiet squeak, almost a chirp, that comes from the rear passenger side. Has anyone else encountered this before? Is it something to be concerned about? I have not been able to record the sound as it does not always produce the sound. Usually only after several minutes of driving.

    140K miles.
    Owned since 108K.
Sound showed up within the past 500 miles.

There is a sound when the electronic parking brake engages. I would say it's normal if it's too soft that you can't record it. (Is that what you meant by not having recorded the sound)?

No, I could record it (probably) if I remembered to before I put it into park. What generally happens (but not always) is I go for a short drive, few miles, maybe 10 or 20 minites. If I put it into park after that, it will usually give me one little squeak. But if I shift back into drive then into park again, no squeak.

I'm familiar with that sound. I guess it could be a defect but never thought of it as such, so I haven't brought it to service's attention. Just had some sort of recall within the last year and have less than 35k mi on our 2012.
