I've settled on my options, Driftwood/Touring/Leather, but no one in DC/Balt has it in stock. How long do the orders usually take? Is touring w/leather going to be especially rare?

A Touring model may be tougher to get compared to the regular model....may want to expand your search outside your area and see if any OOS dealerships may have one or can get one in. Based on what I heard the wait time for the Touring may be longer.

Thanks for the tip. I did find one in the SouthEast USA region (I'm in Mid-Atlantic). Is it possible to transfer inventory between regions?

You could try an internet search on every dealer within a certain radius of your location . . . might be easier in the long run than getting someone to transfer a Prius for you, although we did get our 06 as a result of the dealer trading something someone wanting and ending up with the Prius. I think we bought it either the first or second day it was on the lot, and I was lucky because I was foolish enough to turn my back on it for a whole hour in between seeing it and laying claim to it!

Just thought - seems like in the Dealers sale section here I've seen a northern VA dealer post. I also think I've run across a couple of dealers in Northern VA who seem to have a lot of Prius. Also, have you tried the Richmond area, or between there and the DC/Baltimore area?

My bad - it's the "other" internet forum about Prius that has a Dealer section. Sorry.

    Hi there,

thanks for the info. Northern Virginia is the big suburban hub of Washington DC, much bigger than the Maryland burbs. But the problem is, that it would appear that the touring with package 6 is not available in the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast region at all, at least according to the Toyota "Build Your Prius" page. the closest for me would be North Carolina or Ohio, though I will be visiting family in Boca Raton, Florida shortly so I might work with a dealer there. There's the autotrain in Orlando area that I could use to get it back to the Washington area. Ideally though, I'd like to find one using the SouthEast inventory system (the best of all the regions) then work with a local dealer to get it traded up here. I know it'll cost some dough, but it would be the most convenient. Or I could bite the bullet and just order it and wait (not my favorite option). =)

I was wondering, I know they're so popular there's no negotiation on the price but is there any funny business the dealer will try to pull that I should know about?
