As soon as I get home on Monday! :)

I just lifted the antenna off of the metal base. Twist it a bit and pull up firmly. It is only a magnetic attachment.

As far as the metal plate goes it just grabbed the front left corner and pulled up slowly. It is only held by a weak adhesive. Keep pulling back towards the windshield. It will come off.

To remove the adhesive residue on the dash I just used Goo-Gone on a clean cloth. Then cleaned the dash with Griots interior cleaner. Can't tell it was ever there. It was on there less than 48 hours however.

    Hope this helps.

I installed my XM antenna inside the rear spoiler. It's actually a pretty easy process, you just have to remove the plastic panelling on the inside of the hatch to thread the antenna wire towards the spoiler. I'd be happy to supply directions if anyone is interested. This method completely hides the antenna and the reception is great since the spoiler is plastic.

Toyota's XM with the antenna under the sharkfin. I have a hard time calling it factory XM when it did not come from the factory and I had to install it.....

P.S. this is there latest offering and displays 16 digits

The latest Toyota offering does not display 16 digits on all cars. Mine is a late build 2006 and I only get 10 digits. Latest Toyota part #s. No one knows why some cars display 16 digits and some 10.

16 digits on JBL 10 on non JBL.

Lastest does not referring to *your* car. We are talking about the XM kit offered. There are a lot of older kits out there still being sold as well as Camry/Solara tuners that work in the Prius but only display 10 digits.

Not true in all cases. Click here for a thread started by an owner with a non-JBL system that does get the 16 character display.

I have the non JBL with the Toyota XM for the PRius. I get 16 characters.

There have been reports of some dealers using the Prius specific installation kit but used the older XM receiver. One way to tell is if the antenna has one or two wires. The older receiver only displays 10 characters and the antenna used 2 wires.

I still get the 10 character display. Correct part #, antenna uses 1 wire. August 2006 build.

    Do you have Nav?

I installed my Sirius antenna on the roof just above the driver-side door, then ran the wire under the rubber strip back into the hatch. The reception is great. During the summer, when trees were at their fullest, I rarely lost the signal. The antenna is positioned so it's closest to the center of the road, where a canopy of trees won't interfere with the signal as much. With my old car, I had the antenna positioned in the rear-center, above the hatch, and I lost the signal often in the summer.

Here's a pic of my roof install:

Why is this crazy? The GPS NAV antenna is in the dash also and works just fine.

Then the only thing I see different is that your profile says you have the base model, and the other member you referred to has package #3. The base radio is different than the other non-JBL radio, according to the sales lit, in that it doesn't have MP3/WMA playback capability. Does your radio have this feature?
Seems like Toyota is making this overly complicated, what with different radios, different versions of the XM radio, different antennas, etc. Myself, I'll just listen to my CDs converted to MP3, and not be bothered.

Correct, my radio does NOT have the MP3/WMA playback capability. I've given up on the 16 character display at this point. I'll live with 10. :)
