That mileage is fairly low for a 2005, have you ran a carfax or at a minimum ran the VIN at : Track Your Service Records with Your Toyota Owners Account

Some evap issues can be difficult to solve, and that DTC may prevent the vehicle from passing smog (required for title transfer), best to sort that P1455 out before finalizing the purchase.

Have you visually checked to see in the inverter coolant pump is functioning?

Don't drive the vehicle with a failed inverter pump, or you risk damaging the inverter. When DTC P0A93 is current, the cruise control and the AC may not work.

 

Check engine light on?
Will not pass smog.

Legally he is supposed to sell it with a smog certificate so have him pay for it and have it pass or you pass it up.

Good point Azuza.

With so many cats getting stolen in California make sure its got its OEM cat if its a universal $125 cat it will fail smog. The factory cat is around $2500.

the secret is finding a one or two owner with decent records. all you can do iskeep searching. best is when you know someone who knows someone.
buying used pri from strangers can be sketchy, but you never know.

 

You may or not be able to find a gen2 (or any vehicle for that matter) that fits the above needs, as the platform is over 10 yrs old.

How about a matrix, vibe, or even another corolla?

Add-ons for the above list :

New OEM catalytic converter (pricey)
Brake actuator assembly (pricey)
Suspension (pricey)
An OEM HV battery with matching modules, don't buy anything with a rebuilt etc (pricey)
At least one change of the transmission fluid (shows above average maintenance)
5k oil changes (believed to help mitigate oil consumption)

If the vehicle was kept local (desert temps), try to find one that lived in a garage or had the windows down to dissipate the cabin heat build up, this could increase the HV battery longevity. Expect to recondition the existing HV battery to ensure a longer life span.

 

Hello, I see from your profile that you are in California. With a P1455 Fault Code, the car will not pass the Emissions Test. In California, it is the Sellers' responsibility to ensure the vehicle passes the Emissions Test, NOT the Buyer.
From the Code description provided by SFO, I suspect a failed fuel tank bladder.
Unless the seller is willing to obtain the Smog Certificate, it is a hard pass as the fuel tank only comes as an assembly and is very pricey.

My input is its foolish to buy a G2 given where you live. Sooner or later the cat will get clipped especially if the wife is driving it as they will spot the car see its a woman and clip it in broad daylight. That is a non stop hassle to deal with you cant just park it in a big parking lot and go shop. It will get stolen.

if it gets clipped and it will then your screwed as you must use a OEM cat as there are part numbers on both units they check that and you will fail emissions. New cat is around $2500 installed.
