    Follow-up:

It turns out that you cannot claim this $900.11 point-of-sale reward and the $1,000 Southern California Edison (SCE) reward at the same time. The latter is ending at the end of the year, to which I am applying right now. If you are an SCE customer, you may want to buy your Prius Prime and apply for the $1,000 rebate by the end of the year. I'm not sure if you can get the point-of-sale rebate at every dealer or if you are not an SCE customer. In any case I am getting $99.89 more and it is going directly into my pocket, which I prefer, instead of toward my low-interest loan. So, I am good.

The (SCE) Clean Fuel Reward Program is Ending

Apply now! Applications for the Clean Fuel Reward Program may be submitted until December 31st, 2020 at 11:59pm PST. Any applications submitted after this time will not be eligible. For additional information, you may visit the Clean Fuel Reward Program FAQ page. Note: If you received the California Clean Fuel Reward point-of-sale rebate, you are not eligible for this SCE rebate.

    It gets complicated.

SCE isn't accepting a temporary registration. I don't know if I will receive my permanent one by the end of the year, when the program expires.

Tip: Submit your SCE application near the last day of this year, when the program expires. They give you a 60-day window to supply your permanent registration. This way it will be more likely that you will receive it in the mail before the 60-day expires. I ended up submitting mine now without knowing it. If I don't receive it toward the end of the 60 days, I will have to go to DMV to get a copy.

Even with a $4,500 rebate, you will come nowhere close to $10,000–$11,000 below MSRP. Perhaps he/she was living in a sales-tax-free state, which would then make sense. We pay over $3,000 in sales tax in California and it is nonrefundable and nondeductible when you resell the car.

How do you get a $32,000 OTD price on a 2021 Limited? Be careful about their so-called trade-in bonus. You need to see what your Edmunds trade-in value is and whether the bonus is on top of that or not.

Thanks for the update gokhan. None of the dealers that I'm interested in over in san diego are in the program yet. I sent them an email to see if they are. We don't have the SCE down here so it works out just fine.

I just found out that I had overlooked at a trade-in offer for my 2020 XLE with 7,000 miles that was $24,000–$25,000 from another dealer. I got $23,000 where I purchased my new car. The other dealer was less aggressive on the dealer discount, but I still could have saved $500–$1,000 over what I paid. I should have also asked for more for the trade-in when I was filling the online trade-in application, as they immediately met my asking price. Chances are that they would also give me $24,000.

Overall it was still a good deal, and at the end, $1,000 is somewhat in the noise when you buy a brand-new car.

The dealer in Carlsbad had the latest-arrival-VIN Limited Blue Magnetism in stock. Mine was the second latest. A new batch of Prius Primes are in transit either on a Ro–Ro or at the port.

I have a grant that I can only use at a few local dealerships, which sadly aren't on the list. I did email the SCE program to see if they'll all them to the list, and they are working on it. I assume within the next few months more dealers will be added.

Okay guys I need your help. Last round!

So I really have emailed nearly 11 dealerships trying to get the absolute best deal. I live in Nevada and all the greater deals are in California but the hassle of it all and registering it doesn’t seem worth it.

Locally I’m working with a dealer who has the exact car I want. 2021 Prius Prime Limited in white.

I haggled the best I could and this is their final offer:

$36915 OTD including all taxes and fees. They don’t have Toyota Cash Back here.

    Invoice: 35,103
And gave me below invoice net selling price
    33,000

Is this a good deal? Would any of you be happy with this?

Has anyone here traded in their Prime in the same year they bought it and were still able to file for 2 EV Federal tax credits? I bought my 2020 Prime in August of this year. If I trade it in now for a 2021 Prime, would I be able to claim 2 tax credits (2 x $4502) in my tax return for 2020, one tax credit for the traded-in Prime and another for the new 2021?

I think you can by filing multiple forms but note that your total tax credit is limited by your tax liability.

I did this in 2019. I bought a 2018 Prime in Feb 2019, then traded it in for a 2020 in Dec 2019. I was able to claim both and received a $9004 credit. As Gokhan mentioned you need to actually have at least that much tax liability or else it will be wasted.

Yes, there are great East Coast deals on the 2020 Prius Primes!

I am guessing you won't be using it as an Uber, will you? LOL

I went to Heritage Toyota the day after i saw @ltlurker 's post. I had a different salesperson, but both her and the finance guy were possibly the nicest dealership employees i've ever interacted with. Here's what i paid

MSRP 35,300 (includes all weather floor liner, roof bars and delivery)
    Dealer Price 31,200
    Toyota rebate -4,500
    processing fee 500
    NJ tax 2,100
    non tax fees 430
    OTD price 29,750

Unfortunately, I found out that in order to be eligible for NJ's $625 rebate you need to purchase from NJ dealer. So I'll only have the Federal rebate of $4502 to count on.

Loving the car so far. Weber Auto's videos explaining how the P610 transaxle works make me appreciate the car even more.

I wonder why the Toyota factory rebates on the East Cost are so aggressive.

My Spirited Aqua 2020 Prius Plug-in Executive (p)leather on 10/27/2020 for a grand total of 375 000 NOK or $40 910. This is the breakdown from the documents (I deducted sales tax from the MSRP, it should have been split between the car and accessories, but I'm too lazy. That would probably yield rounder numbers).
    298 080 MSRP
    76 920 Tax
    15 306 Winter tires
    1 943 TPMS
    1 051 Front mudguards
    1 051 Read mudguards
    - 19 351 Discount
The biggest difference to the regular Prius is that the non-plugin has an additional ~$5500 tax applied, slightly differing between trim levels. You're getting some good deals over there in the US.

Congratulations, Henrik! It was a long time ago when I visited the beautiful country of Norway as a teen!

I like the color name Spirited Aqua a lot! It is called Blue Magnetism here. It is by far the best color choice for Prius Prime and obviously what I have as well! So, you've made the perfect color choice. ;)

(The Blue Magnetism/Spirited Aqua color code is 791.)

No Titanium Glow among those options over there?
