I installed a pack from Toyota Of Lake City: New & Used Toyota Dealer Serving Seattle, WA in 2019 and person who owned the car paid $1650 for the part plus $1300 core charge, which is refunded when you return your old pack.

If you need a loaner pack to get yourself back on the road before you spend a bunch of money that only takes an hour and I'm 70 miles south of you and do it as a hobby, so how much it costs you is most likely up to you...

I am thinking of getting a gen2 greenbean for $1449 with lifetime warranty. I can't find a new install for less than $2300 in Houston and even that only comes with 5 year or 100K warranty. What price are people paying for new batteries these days and where do you get them? Warranty service with GBean seems easy by taking a pic of odb2 reader and the up to 7-day lag on warranty service isn't a big deal for me. Anyone have any good or terrible experiences to share?

If you do not need a reliable car and can live with your car dying randomly and then being fixed a week later, you can't beat an unlimited warranty. Assuming they can survive paying for all these warranty claims. It is the best warranty out there and you will be using it.

Lifetime warranty on GreenBean could be good if you have the skills to spend an hour swapping packs when they go bad. But if you have to hire a mechanic to do it, that's would end up costing too much. But if you have a friend who works on cars that wants to do that for you it will reduce costs.

Meanwhile, with enough effort you can likely find a brand new Toyota Hybrid Pack for $1650 if you call around enough... And it will only take 2 hours to install that can cost you less than $100 if you have a friend who who works on cars that wants to do that for you. A brand new pack will mean a decade or more without problems.

Just going to say that the Green Bean warranty covers the reinstallation when needed.
Just get it and report back to all these naysayers.

Did not know that? Do you have to live in a major city for that? Is there a limited service area?

Highlighting two (maybe not so) obvious points here, in addition to good points made by others.

For $1449 you will be getting an old second-hand battery that will not last more than 5 years and more than likely will fail after 2 years. You will need the warranty.

For $2300 you will be getting a new battery that will last 10+ years and you will more than likely never need the 5-year/100,000-mile warranty.

While $851 might seem like a lot extra to pay, over 8 years it is only $109.38 per year of peace of mind. To me, it is not a lot for what extra you get and I would gladly pay that extra to get a reliable car that will work as good as it when it was new – to me it is a no-brainer.

I don't know how many posts I've read on this site where people have done what you are considering and then, in hindsight, stated they regretted going second-hand. If they had to do a battery replacement again, they would have bought new hands down.

It is horses for courses though, if you don't need a reliable car or only need it for 6 months to two years, then a second-hand battery might make sense.

For $1600 delivered @2k1Toaster here can provide a kit of new cells basically giving you a new pack. Sell your old modules to Green Bean to lower the cost further. The link for newpriusbatteries is in my signature. Unlike Green Bean none of his customers has needed to use the warranty.

    @PriusCamper

You can only get the green bean battery delivered and installed if you live in an area they cover so when and if you need their battery replaced they will be able to reinstall the new one under warranty.

I assume only if it breaks down in an area they cover. Otherwise add towing expenses

As noted by Prius Camper, Heartland Bremerton cheaper at $1773. Check online rather than walking into dealership.

It only takes 2 hours to install and who in their right mind pays an auto mechanic $180 per hour?

Honestly taxes included that's not that bad of a price if you can't install it yourself. You could just get the one from newpriusbatteries and have someone install it in exchange for the core.. worth a shot.

    Shipping cost from :
    NewPriusBatteries

    San Juan PR

    UPS Ground : $308
    UPS 2nd day : $338

As you know shipping batteries outside continental USA is not cheap Business.

I would love to have newpriusbatteries as an option.

Thats why im ending getting my batt from my dealer.

Well in that case, it makes the decision fairly east and straightforward. @mubex the dealer battery very well priced.
