Brake Stroke Sensor Switch

    Where is this sensor? Is it the Brake Light Switch? I have been reading thru discussions on here for over 3 days and only see that people have the dealer replace it for about $400. If it is the Brake Light Switch, what a rip.

    I to have had the C1247 brake stroke sensor code and the Brake (!) ABS VSC lights on. Took it to the local brake shop. He reset the system and could find no errors. Been driving the car for over a week and all is well. Replaced the little battery about 6 months with an Optima. Is fully charged. Just waiting for it to happen again. If the sensor is the Brake Light Switch, I will replace it. The difficult part is removing the special nut that locks the sensor onto the bracket. Too bad Toyota didn't do this with the screw that attaches the switch on the parking brake!

    No, the brake stroke sensor is separate from the brake light switch. The sensor monitors the degree to which the brake pedal is depressed while the brake light switch is either off or on. If you need to replace the sensor, you will need Mini VCI so that you can properly adjust the sensor mounting position and initialize the linear solenoid valve, then perform the zero point calibration of the yaw rate sensor and deceleration sensor. You'll need access to the factory repair manual, at techinfo.toyota.com

    how do I check the Prius brake sensor? I connected the #4 and #5 thing beneath the steering wheel with a paperclip, when trying to bleed the brakes... now it won't turn on and see the "READY" light. I can't shift to any gears. It worked last time I did that, but this time I disconnected the main battery orange clip on the left back side, which had a little battery or something in it. I couldn't really tell...

    Orange switch needs to slide more to side to be fully cconnected
