China: Over 130,000 Plug-In Electric Car Sales In September 2020

The automotive market in China is returning to growth. In September, overall car sales increased by 8% year-over-year, while the plug-in segment went up by 66% year-over-year to 131,022.

It was the highest plug-in sales result for the month of September and the market share reached a very solid 6.3% (including 5% BEVs).

About 80% of the plug-ins happen to be all-electric and this segment is also growing quicker than plug-in hybrids (up 73% year-over-year, compared to 43%).

According to EV Sales Blog, the total passenger plug-in car sales during the first nine months of this year amounted to 695,131. The market share is 5.2% (including 4.1% for BEVs).

Tesla Is losing sales to GM in China. GM number one EV at selling with a Vehicle that’s less than $5K.

It probably isn't a direct competitor to Tesla then. Why not compare Mirai sales to those of the Versa then?

It’s a BEV. How is it not a direct competitor? Does the price being low make it less of a BEV?

Mirai is an FCEV as the Versa is an ICE. How would they even be considered the same?

This is the car in question

The only thing it has in common with the Model 3 is being a BEV.
So cross shopping of the two models is very unlikely. Saying so is not a judgement of which car is lesser.
The Mirai vs Versa is merely an example of how impractical it is to compare this to the Model 3 in terms of sales. It is bringing up truck sales to someone looking for a sedan.

But they are selling and selling in greater numbers. So it may seem to us as no comparison to a Tesla, but different world markets have different needs and tastes as well as incomes.

in that case .... compare this short range - non 5 star crash rated - teeny cracker box to sneeker sales .... lots more sneekers for transportation .... because they're cheaper.
