Source: German lobbyists are pushing hydrogen fuel cells—but German automakers | EVANNEX Aftermarket Tesla Accessories

There’s a puzzling power struggle going on in Germany. The federal government, cheered on by various industry trade groups, has grand plans to build a hydrogen fuel cell ecosystem. However, two of the country’s three major automakers have stated in no uncertain terms that hydrogen fuel cells are unsuitable for passenger vehicles, and that battery-electric vehicles are the way forward (a conclusion that Tesla’s founders reached back in 2003, and that Elon Musk has reiterated in colorful terms many times).
    . . .

Works for me. We're seeing legacy leaders who have not gotten the updated memo that hydrogen is too expensive except by taking tax funds from other government services.

Regardless of how good hydrogen is or not for vehicles, it makes sense that industry leaders capable of producing large amounts of hydrogen would want cars to use it and will do all they can to develop that market... I'm sure Toyota is very much interested in working with them as well.

what ... you mean even if Hydrogen car manufacturers continue to give away hydrogen fuel for freeeee ? It won't help? Can't they just make every one pay more taxes to fund everything ? ... to hopefully stem the tidal wave of EV's ? So the hydrogen & (mostly) other nonrenewable fueling industries can stay in business?

If someone had a dollar for every 'thumbs-down' EV post coming from Stinking Alpha ... they could buy $1,000's in tesla stock. Maybe figure into their equation on how often they sing the praises of fossil fuel stock/industry? In any event - deflecting the hydrogen fuel free / give-away doing very little to increase hydrogen car success - fails to address how little it has done.

The shift away from fossil fuels is going to open up so many new markets you'd need to write a book to keep track of them all... Anyone know any authors who are doing that?

Funny thing, one of Trump's most recent actions was to open an Alaskan refuge for oil drilling. Funny because the low price for oil may make it a moot auction.

Another Trump classic... Finally doing favors for friends when it doesn't really matter anymore... Remember coal king Robert Murrary who recently died of black lung disease. Same routine:

"While Trump’s administration acted on many rollbacks on Murray’s wishlist, Murray’s company, once the largest privately-held coal company in the country, went bankrupt last year as demand for coal from power utilities slumped."
