I am currently using an old 12v lead acid battery for my UPS. It seems to be working fine for the past 1 month. I am wondering if anyone tried using 2 pieces of Prius battery cell as backup power for UPS.

2 pieces of the cells could provide around 14.4v which is more than enough. My current UPS kept my 12v battery at 13.6v when no power outage.

    Any comments are appreciated.

    Probably not a good idea.
You might end up with less total capacity and the UPS might not charge them properly.

Be sure to check the "water" level in your lead acid battery at least once a month.......unless it is a sealed type.
