Check engine light with P219a code, clean/replace EGR? 2013 Prius V

Hello folks,

Bad day for a check engine light on Thanksgiving . Today my check engine light went on. I checked with my obd2 scanner and got P219a indicating a fuel to air problem. I've read around some other threads for standard priuses saying the EGR and or intake manifold is clogged up and needs to be cleaned. Does this sound right to y'all? The engine runs rough at low speed/acceleration, then does fine. The car has 120k miles, I think I should get new sparkplugs as well. Does anyone know any tutorials specific to the V? I am currently boondocking from the car without access to a garage. Trying to figure out next steps.

 

Couple other things - I saw someone mention bypassing the EGR by unplugging its wiring harness, losing efficiency, but letting the engine run easy till you can address the problem. Is this legit/responsible? I have access to a garage a couple hundred miles away where I might be able to do the work easily. But I don't want to blow up the engine lol.

 

I just finished having a compression leak test performed by Toyota over $400 -ouch, but apparently not the head gasket. Toyota wants $2,800 to do intake manifold, gaskets, and fuel injectors. They say this might not even solve the problem as the "bottom end of the engine is weak". I'm not having Toyota do the work, considering a specialty shop. Ughhhh. Apparently it's not the EGR.
