Never seen them broken down by color but I'm fairly certain 2008 was the peak year of all Prius sales and slowly climbs and slowly declines to almost nothing in both 2001 and 2020....

 

Just over 30k sales through September 2020 is far from nothing and this is only Prius sales for Toyota. For 2019 Toyota sold about 70k Prius. Not too shabby since the market has gone SUV and Trucks.

 

Think only Toyota will have the production numbers by color.

 

Actually I should of said 2007 was the peak year, not 2008... And yes the numbers really are shabby, bordering on pathetic. In the US alone at it's peak Toyota was selling 70K prius in less than 4 months compared to 2019 when it was taking almost all year minus three months. Numbers don't lie... The Prius line probably will be discontinued before the second half of this decade.

Sales drop is contributed to the slew of Hybrid models now being offered by Toyota as well a the polarizing look of the current Prius.

 

That's all well and good... But it's not gonna stop Prius from being discontinued unless they switch to an all-electric Prius because that's what people want. The waiting lists for electric cars not even in production yet is astonishing!

 

That’s what People want - all electric Prius? Interesting since Toyota sales of Hybrids are sky rocketing around the world.

 

There's no way I can know for sure what Toyota plans to release as in EV, although it seems to me they are waiting to perfect solid state first, no matter what the fringe market of EV sales - in the US anyway - wants presently. Not many drivers are going to change driving style to be more efficient drivers to help make the packs last So when "normal drivers" get in an EV/PHEV and go the current packs suffer badly, as well as being still kinda expensive.

Don't forget tesla is saying they have plans for a $ 25,000 model.

It's all about choice, at least here in this country and most car and truck buyers need 5 to 10 thousand pounds to sit in by themselves and move down the road between 50 and 80 mph. That's gonna take some interesting pack dynamics to achieve.

 

That would be Liftbacks only, at 181,221 units, in the U.S.
