Can you provide more detail about how you were unsuccessful? Otherwise, we'll just regurgitate what's in the manual. Just to be clear, the bluetooth hands-free system and the garage door opener system have nothing to do with each other.

Some tips - read the manual carefully for the garage door. if you have one of those rolling code thingies, you need to push the training button on the garage door motor during part of the process as well. the process in the manual definately works - just be patient, and if you don't get it the first time, try it again :p.

For the bluetooth - You need to make sure that bluetooth in your phone is turned ON. then, you have to make sure the phone is in discoverable mode. finally, you can activate the thingy in the car to look for it. The Prius can only do the initial pairing if the bluetooth is turned on and it's in discoverable mode. after it's initially set up, you don't need to worry about being discoverable or not - just leave the phone (and bluetooth) on!

If its an old garage door opener you just need to follow the manual and make sure you watch the lights on your homelink to indicate when its programmed. You dont even have to be near the garage door, you just need the garage door opener. I programmed mine in a grocery store parking lot.

As far as programming the razr, it took my car a few times before it recognized my phone but if you keep following the instructions. If youre having another problem though, please post

Be aware that the programming of the garage door with a modern rolling code door (as shown in the manual) is a 2 step process.

First you have to have the car learn the existing remote's code by activating the remote in the car along with the button that you are going use in the car (could be as long as 30 seconds) until the blinking changes.

Then you have to press the learn button on the garage door unit (see its instructions) and press the car button you just programmed within 30 seconds. That should do it.

It took me about 3 times to get it right.

I would agree with the others...I read the manual as I programmed my Razr and it paired easily with the Bluetooth in the car...the phone book needed to be downloaded one number at a time (Cingular)...

My garage door opener is a "rolling" type...so I had to do the two-step process, which I felt the manual explained quite well...so I would suggest sitting with the manual open as you do both of these processes, rather than have us type out the directions....both took me just a few minutes to do. The phone book took longer, since I was expecting the whole book to transfer, when, in fact, I had to scroll through one number at a time, go to the address book menu, find "send" and send it while the screen was in transfer mode for the phone book...then I could set up the car's speed dial and voice tag features.

I programmed my Garage door opener in about 30 secs---no problems. I LOVE it; and it opens the door from farther away, so I don't have to stop in the driveway. :)
