    That was from the piece.

    It is the cradle to grave carbon emissions for the Polestar 2 and equivalent ICE car over 124k miles. Even on the hypothetical global grid, the BEV does better. Maybe that won't be so if the Polestar was powered solely by an old coal plant, but the likely isn't going to happen in Europe.

    While we have seen such research by third parties before, Polestar is calling on the manufacturers themselves to publish such in order to gain public trust through transparency..

    I don't see Toyota or CARB doing this for the Mirai, with all its components, and two thirds of California hydrogen coming from natural gas.

    prius isn't the cleanest car on the planet either, yet many owners feel like they've done their part :rolleyes:

    I know, and haven't been responding to much of the latest, but I agree with Polestar's point. The manufacturers should provide such emission data.

    Why is it always an attack against Toyota? This was not an attack against anyone manufacturer. All manufacturers are hiding the truths.

    No anti-Toyota agendas here. AFAIK, all persons currently or formerly owned a Toyota/Prius or had a lot of interest in the Prius.

    Well I disagree with you on that point as there is no love for the Mirai among a select few - an attack on Hydrogen vehicles is an attack on Toyota.

    Lol, I'm a big fan of true cost accounting, but it doesn't mean much coming from Polestar's CEO, which is an automaker that's barely out of its first 1/2 year of production in China and only plans to build 1,500 cars world-wide with no competitive edge with a retail price of $155K per vehicle.

    Whatever happened to the good ol' days when fossil fool based economic interests would finance smear campaigns to discredit electric cars? Now instead we get a CEO of a pretend electric car builder doing that work instead? Times have changed!

    A production run of 1500 cars world wide that sell for $155K each and only 150 sold in the US is not a legit car manufacturer no matter how much money Volvo throws at them out of desperation...

    As Elon Musk has said again and again: Any company can design an electrci car and build a prototype, but lowering cost of production to be both affordable and profitable at scale is the challenge that is near impossible from a factory engineering and design perspective.

    Neither are hydrogen cars, at least yet. But I see your sleight of hand by subtly changing Ingenlath's words.

    He also writes:
    "The journey to sustainable mobility is exactly that: a journey. The fact is that all products have an environmental impact. Electric cars are no exception. However, as opposed to a fossil fuel-driven car that can never reach climate neutrality, EVs can."

    I've never claimed that my Prius is clean or "green", just "less brown" than ordinary ICEs. It is a stepping stone towards the 80% carbon reduction we need by 2050 in order to get control of AGW. Current electrics are another step. Many more steps are needed.

    For those of us who started a decade ago, that 80% goal means a compounded 4%/year reduction. People who are just now starting, need to go a bit faster than 5%/year.

    My Prius achieved a decent chunk for my personal transportation energy, but now it is time for me to take another step. But at least my house energy is done -- Net Zero Energy was achieved five years ago. Now if I can also do something about my consumer supply chain ...

    Yes, Toyota's Hydrogen car is even less legitimate of a production vehicle. Fossil fool dependent corporations like Toyota offering a hydrogen car with no hyrdogen fueling infrastructure was dead on arrival in 2016 and that's barely changed at all in the past 5 years.

    Clearly you don't understand economy of scale and the difference between ramping up production within existing energy infrastructure vs. ramping up production with a mostly non-existent infrustructure... It's range anxiety time ten thousand and it might be a fun pretend car for super rich people, but has zero relevance on cars being produced today and in the 2020's in general... But maybe if you make your argument again in the 2030's it will seem like you're finally getting some traction.
