I'm in the market for a hybrid and I've just come across something interesting. NC classifies any vehicle with a 4 kwh battery or higher as EV and subject to annual ev tax for registration. I'm reading the regular prius has a 4.4 battery and prime has a 8.8. Both would be subject to this.. The ioniq is a 1.6 kwh. Do any of you have one in NC and have to pay the fee?

The regular Prius is a conventional hybrid with a very small battery (only about 700Wh).

The Prime is a plug-in hybrid with 8.8kWh - you may be mixing up the Gen 3 Plug-In-Prius which did have a 4.4kWh battery.

On my second Prius in 12+ years, all in NC. I've never seen a charge like that on my NC DMV registration.
