What is considered a good fuel efficiency?

    In the 2 months that I've had my Prius Prime plugin hybrid, I'm averaging 109 KM/L or 256 miles/gallon (Google conversion).

    Most of our trips are short and within the battery capacity but I think we are using up our gas on things like the defrost/heat which I notice kicks us out of EV mode. So far, we haven't had to put gas but we will probably need to gas up in the next couple of weeks.

    I'm just wondering if my fuel efficiency would be considered average for this car and how it compares to others with the same model car?

    it depends on how much ev driving you do. gasoline fuel efficiency is only measurable and comparable to others outside of ev.

    The fuel efficiency number (mpg or KM/L) on the dash of Prius Prime has almost no meaning if you are driving your car on EV mode often. It can be as high as 999mpg if your drives are all EV mode and the gas engine never comes on. To make the fuel efficiency number meaningful, you will have to drive the car purely in HV mode.

    109 Km/L is about 0.9 L/100Km which is the normal way to state it in Metricland. The 2020 Prime is rated at 4.4 L/100Km. on the highway. This shows how skewed the numbers get due to the EV miles. The only way to get a meaningful result is to fill the tank and hit the highway in HV mode. My 2020 Prime has managed to get to 4.0 L/100Km., but normally comes in at about 4.7 - 4.8 since I changed the eco tires to Nokian WR all-weather tires so I can actually start and stop in the winter! What a concept!

    This is interesting, I didn't know this fuel efficiency was to measure gasoline efficiency. I can't see how it could ever be an accurate measure of gasoline efficiency because the whole purpose of people buying an EV is to use it as an EV at least some of the time which would skew the numbers.

    That being said, I've been using this value as a measure of my EV efficiency and trying to reduce the amount of gas used per 100 km to as low as possible by relying as much as possible on EV.

    I typically see about 55MPG hybrid and 4.6 miles per KWh electric.

    That’s about 4.3l/100Km or 23Km/l on gas, and 7.4Km/KWh.

    This is intriguing, I didn't have the foggiest idea about this eco-friendliness was to quantify fuel proficiency. I can't perceive how it would actually be an exact proportion of gas proficiency in light of the fact that the entire motivation behind individuals purchasing an EV is to utilize it as an EV probably a portion of the time which would slant the numbers.
    That being stated, I've been utilizing this incentive as a proportion of my EV effectiveness and attempting to lessen the measure of gas utilized per 100 km to as low as conceivable by depending however much as could reasonably be expected on EV.

    Exactly. It is pure nonsense. In our 2017 it maxed out at 199. Newer models max out at 999. In any case it means nothing. Dividing the total electric + gasoline miles by the gasoline consumed is a junk number.

    Toyota could have shown just gasoline mpg or km/l, but they didn't. Just as they could have shown just gasoline miles driven or gasoline engine hours so we'd have a better gauge on when to do engine maintenance. But they didn't.
